A few things...

Well, it's the start of a new season for my club (whose club anthem you can hear as Cut of the Day), so I will be in and out all day and night. I will add notes to this as I can, sorry for the temporary slack.

#1 - The Spidey Sense post is now locked. Anything new will come in a resulting post, such as...

#2 - Marseille coach Erik Gerets has told reporters that they are not the Ligue 1 bidder for Standard Liège defender Oguchi Onyewu.

#3 - The UEFA Cup first round draw was held yesterday. The match-ups featuring Americans are below, the full skinny is here.

Wolfsburg (Kamani Hill*) v Rapid Bucureşti
Everton (Tim Howard) v Standard Liège (Oguchi Onyewu*)
Napoli (Vincenzo Bernardo*) v Benfica
Vitória Setubal v Heerenveen (Michael Bradley*)
Young Boys v Club Brugge (Jared Jeffrey*)
Sampdoria (Gabriel Ferrari*) v Kaunas
Rennes (Carlos Bocanegra) v FC Twente
Borussia Dortmund (Neven Subotić) v Udinese
Hertha Berlin (Bryan Arguez*, Ellis McLoughlin*) v St. Pat's (Ryan Guy)

Note: The Americans listed with asterisks are either not expected to appear in the first round or possibly headed out on a transfer before Monday's Euro-deadline.

#4 - A few quick transfer window updates:

  • Heerenveen midfielder Michael Bradley was reportedly spotted at Riverside for a Boro medical on Saturday.... the American is in the team for Sunday's season opening trip to Volendam, but coach Trond Sollied has stated that he won't be starting.

UPDATE: Bradley is not on the Heerenveen bench today.
  • The Heath Pearce situation has become a bit complicated because the team that wants him the most has yet to shed a player they thought was leaving. That might still happen, but this saga could now run until the winter window, which may or may not play to the advantage of his English suitors. Call me crazy, but I still think the move might still shake loose before tomorrow.
