With The Office set to return in a couple of hours, I will try to contain my giddy excitement long enough to drop a few noteworthy blurbs...
#1 - The Americans Abroad 2009-2010 European berth chase officially begins on November 9th after Troy Perkins backstopped Vålerenga to a 2-1 win over Odd Grenland on Thursday night. The Pride of Oslo will now get to battle NM Cup final foe Stabæk in their own Ullevaal backyard with a piece of silver and a UEFA Cup entry on the line.
According to Oslo daily VG, Perkins' best stop of the night came just past the hour when he cruelly denied Odd striker Morten Favang from point blank range. It has not been a good season for the Bohemians, but a victory in the Cup final would instantly change all that.
#2 - The Monaco website offers up a brief video chat with Freddy Adu, filmed shortly after a 1-0 Coupe de la Ligue home ouster to Paris St. Germain.
#3 - NSC buddy Chris Courtney has provided a nice scoop over at his blog: Napoli have signed young American attacker Vincenzo Bernardo to a three-year first team deal. Congrats, Vincenzo!
#4 - Another NSC pal, Luis Arroyave talks with Landon Donovan, who has nothing but kind words for Cuauhtémoc Blanco... does anyone else, north or south of the border, feel squirmy over this?
#5 - Today, I offer a super mega double bonus Cut of the Day, recorded this summer at a secret small club Coldplay gig in Amsterdam. This one goes out to anyone having a rough day...

The pictures Michael used for "fat people" during his skit were hilarious.
Elvis, Jabba the Hut, etc.
Great start to the season.
Stay Puft Marshmallow Man...
I liked what I heard in the Freddy clip. Even though things aren't necessarily going his way, right away, you can see the kid's growing up -- he's more articulate in his interviews and he's learning what to say and how to say it. He looks pretty good in a suit, too.
