Mastro race heating up

Transplanted Brit reporter Nick Thomas has sweetened the long-running Pablo Mastroeni-to-Europe serial by uncovering a pair of Spanish suitors in Málaga and Real Betis. Of course, the veteran midfield stopper is also wanted in Italy (by both Serie A and Serie B clubs, so they say).

Mastro would prefer a move to Italy, but I'm actually much more excited by these La Liga possibilities, especially Betis. It's as simple as believing Pablo, at his optimum, is a straight-up destroyer - break it up and quickly pass the rock to someone wearing your shirt that can get it forward with feeling.

And it's not that Italy is lacking in danger #10's, but in Spain, most clubs have more than one available. Either way, it would be great to see Mastroeni finally get to test himself in Europe.

Do you think Jozy Altidore will ultimately get loaned out in the January window?

It seems Pellegrini prefers Llorente and Franco to him right now as the bench strikers behind Nihat and Rossi.

I'm assuming that is the plan barring another injury crisis in December, though oft-rumoured landing spot Valladolid have flatly denied that they need him.
