A stand-up guy: Steve Coppell

It's time to inaugurate what I hope will become a busily regular theme post here at NSC by saluting Reading manager Steve Coppell for his comments in the aftermath of the wacky 2-2 draw ably described by Sean in the previous post (with exclusive remarks from Watford's Jay DeMerit, no less).

Sometimes, we get so caught up criticizing that we forget to honor the good guys. Well, not anymore. And if you ever spot a stand-up guy in the wide world of soccer that you think we missed, drop an email and let us know about them.

Although I could blather on about how awesome a dude Coppell is, why not let the man's own words tell the story...

Steve, you're officially a stand-up guy.

I agree that Coppell is a top man, but I think in this instance he should have gone further.

Rather than just saying he'd be "happy" to replay the game, he should be publicly calling for a replay.

His team benefited from an atrocious decision and, since they couldn't bring themselves to do the right thing at the time, they should be leading the charge now.
