I'm still without net at home, but on the move today anyway. Ah, the joys of complimentary WiFi...#1 - Just in the nick of time, a rundown of today's UEFA Cup action involving Americans. I was going to do another Standard v. Everton LIVE, but I'm not making any promises until the tech comes out to fix whatever the connection problem is at home.
By the way, Ryan Guy and St. Pat's were ousted by a scoreless home draw with Hertha Berlin, who dressed neither Bryan Arguez nor Ellis McLoughlin.
Standard Liège (Oguchi Onyewu) 2-2 Everton (Tim Howard)
FC Twente 1-2 Rennes (Carlos Bocanegra)
Udinese 2-0 Borussia Dortmund (Neven Subotić)
Aston Villa (Brads Friedel & Guzan) 3-1 Litex Lovech
#2 - Meanwhile, Timmay has sounded the Toffee cry. Is it just me, or are his leadership qualities really shining through now? Improving his reaction to crosses and set pieces is not the only major improvement we've seen from Howard since arriving at Everton.
#3 - Blog heavyweight Luis Arroyave scores another roundhouse punch at Red Card by talking with MLS commish Don Garber on several hot topics, including league expansion, roster expansion and scheduling. It went up a couple days back, but as we know, I was in the no-surf zone at the time and I don't want anyone to miss it.
I may have enough quibble with Mr. Garber's statements to fuel a column, but I need to do a little research first to make sure my inital reaction is accurate.
#4 - I still have a griping Top 5 List on awful soccer rules around the globe to come. I know everyone loves me when I'm grumpy, and I hereby vow to grump it up good.
Net willing, I will be back later in the day - but consider my breath un-held. Mr. Fix It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, I'm not banking on any early miracles.
