I'm still kinda catching up on everything after my bout with a four-day headache (yeah, I know!), so a couple of these items are a couple days old...#1 - Another casualty of delay was my Luis Robles feature, but that is now up over at Soccer365. In case you aren't aware, the American keeper has been suddenly thrust into the starting role at Kaiserslautern, a club that seems on the way back to the Bundesliga this season.
#2 - While we're on the topic of American keepers in Europe, NSC sends out its hearty congrats to Vålerenga keeper Troy Perkins, who helped his side raise the Norwegian Cup on Sunday. The Bohemians drilled league champions Stabæk 4-1 to earn a 2009/10 UEFA Cup berth.
#3 - Fresh off a sterling debut campaign in Norway, IK Start defender Clarence Goodson has let it slip that he is being called up for the USMNT's final second round World Cup qualifier against Guatemala on November 19th. Camp for the game opens in two days, so expect that full roster announcement in the next 24 hours.
#4 - George Vescey of the New York Times has a little chat with the chairman of the South African World Cup 2010 organizing committee, who assures all will be ready by that summer.
#5 - Luis Bueno has his weekly recap of Americans playing in Mexico up over at The Touchline.
#6 - Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill did a bit of a gush after rookie keeper Brad Guzan put on a fine show in their UEFA Cup win at Slavia Prague on Thursday. Missed the highlights? Here they are...
