A few things...

I was going to post this last night, then my interwebs went buhbye and (true to form) I said "*&%$ it" and went to bed. In any event, away we go...

#1 - Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols is going to bat for the St. Louis MLS expansion team. And if you are wondering how such a scenario might end, please see photo.

To boot, Bruce over at DuNord was screaming for the Gateway City's inclusion yesterday. With those two endorsements, how can the bid miss?

#2 - Center Line catches up with former USMNT star and recent Hall of Fame inductee Hugo Perez, who is busy these days working with our Under-20's. I like the sound of that.

#3 - US Soccer's "Best of" nominees are out and you can vote on 12 categories here.

Who's up for the big four awards, you ask?

U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year
Shannon Boxx, Lori Chalupny, Angela Hucles, Carli Lloyd, Christie Rampone, Hope Solo

U.S. Soccer Male Athlete of the Year
Carlos Bocanegra, Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, Tim Howard, Oguchi Onyewu

U.S. Soccer Young Female Athlete of the Year
Kristie Mewis, Vicki DiMartino, Michelle Enyeart, Alyssa Naeher, Keelin Winters, Courtney Verloo

U.S. Soccer Young Male Athlete of the Year
Maurice Edu, Stuart Holden, Sacha Kljestan, Michael Orozco, Robbie Rogers, Marvell Wynne

The only pick I'm sure of at this time is Howard, though I'm also leaning towards Wynne. Decisions, decisions on the ladies.

#4 - Holy Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink!!! Will someone please shut that incessant scooter alarm off?!?!?!?!?

It's at least five time worse than a car alarm. It is drilling my lobe. I'd tell you which lobe, but I think it's drilling the part of the brain that determines which lobe is being drilled. AGH!!!! Finally!!!!

#5
- As we always do around this time, let's race to The Touchline for Luis Bueno's weekly Americans in Mexico roundup.

#6 - The Chicago Tribune's Luis Arroyave with a particularly juicy Fire Bits, full of drama, international intrigue and word that three Chicago aces will be named to the MLS Best XI.

#7 - As promised, my talk with new IK Start recruit Hunter Freeman is up at Soccer365.

#8 - Real Salt Lake's Will Johnson has netted MLS Goal of the Year for this nifty strike against FC Dallas on October 18th.

#9 - Watch from the Fritz-Walter stands as Kaiserslautern keeper Luis Robles stuffs a Hansa Rostock penalty on Monday night...

Greg - any word on how the recent coaching change is affecting Heath Pearce? He got the start on Monday, but will he continue to do so? Any word on a transfer this January?

It's a bit hard to see until we find out who they choose. I spoke to Heath briefly last week and he is eager to see who comes aboard. The interim boss seems to like him, but of course, that red card will now have him swerving a ban for two games - which from what I understand is very harsh for the foul committed.

I have not heard any January talk, but it's still early for that stuff. Once we hit December, speculation will again be rampant, I'm sure.
