We are less than five hours from kickoff as Guatemala invades Colorado for the final World Cup qualifier of the semifinal round. With the Red, White & Blue already through to final jeopardy, Bob Bradley has called a squad heavy on youngsters (and, of course, free of MLS finalists from Columbus and New York)
The visitors arrived sans Carlos Ruiz, but with slim hopes of advancement. Guatemala will need an unlikely result as they stand three points behind Trinidad & Tobago, who close by hosting lowly Cuba.
I may or may not be able to do a LIVE during the match, but will have my U.S. Player Ratings up at Soccer365 at some time tomorrow... even if I can't watch it live (which looks possible at this time).
Who do I see starting for the 'Nats? Let's go with:
Guzan; Moor, Goodson, Gibbs, Bornstein, Clark, Mastroeni, Adu, Rolfe, Altidore, Ching
I'd also expect to see Kenny Cooper, Sacha Kljestan and Davy Arnaud at some point.
UPDATE: The actual line-up:
Guzan; Thorrington, Goodson, Parkhurst, Bornstein, Mastroeni, Clark, Adu, Kljestan, Cooper, Altidore
The folks have US Soccer have put together a short preview video with quotes from Freddy Adu, Jozy Altidore and Pablo Mastroeni. Enjoy...
