More transfer buzzzzzz

Dr. Kelso: Buzzy, buzz, buzz...
Dr. Cox: I... beg your pardon?
Dr. Kelso: Oh, uh, that's the sound of all the bees in your bonnet. And, Perry, even though I could give a rat's ass, I still think it's a pretty sound.

Since I know you do all give a rat's ass (and my attempts to capture some exclusive quotes are momentarily snagged due to time zone differences), I thought it best to drop a few mini-nuggets to hold you transfer maniacs over for a bit.

What better way to keep everyone from going Dr. Cox on me?
  • The name Aalborg keeps coming up in Chad Marshall chatter, but it also seems they've been nudged out by the German interest. Still, sometimes it's the team that watches others drop away longest that gets the prize.

I think I shall ask Danny Califf if anyone at AaB has called him up for a scouting report on the Crew defender. Yep.

UPDATE: Danny says he hasn't been asked. Not that it means anything.
  • Olympique Marseille manager Erik Gerets and technical director José Anigo were at Standard Liège's 3-0 UEFA Cup win over Sampdoria on Wednesday to watch both USMNT defender Oguchi Onyewu and striker Dieumerci Mbokani.

I was also told that Gooch has rejected or will reject the new deal offered by Standard with hopes of moving up in the football world (hardly a shocker).

With Marseille looking ready to make a nice offer in January, recent suitors 'Gladbach quite possibly could be out of the running already - due as much to their lesser current outlook (relative to L'OM) as club budgetary constraints.

Now, let's see who else jumps into the fray.
  • Word over here in the Netherlands has FC Twente stepping up the chase for Chivas USA's Sacha Kljestan. With Kenneth Perez now 34 years old and perhaps soon needed out wide with everybody 'n their mother chasing winger Eljero Elia, I can see a scenario where Tukkers would be having a grand time trying to learn how to pronounce Sacha's last name.

Sadly, everyone involved in this particular bit of scuttlebutt is extremely secretive, so official comments on the record from key figures seems a mission impossible.
  • Also heard 'round these parts: FC Groningen are battling for position with Torino, among others, in the race for speedy Toronto FC right back Marvell Wynne. I had not heard anything about Italian interest before now, so it's either brand new or a fig newton of someone's imagination.

On a purely unrelated note, I could go for a square filled cookie.
  • Dinamo Zagreb striker Bosko Balaban (he's 30, in case you're wondering) is reportedly in deep talks with a mystery MLS side.
Also, I've received the odd impression from a few people that I wasn't clear enough about the Michael Parkurst-to-FCN deal, so let me try again: the transfer is signed/sealed/delivered and will be announced this week. Don't be fooled by the lack of pub on this one over the last few days.

And naturally, I will continue trying to separate wheat from chaff on all these feint murmurs.

By the way, when does Scrubs return?

Greg what do you think the odds of Boca taking over the LB role for the US like he plays at Rennes (especially given Pearce's shaky play and lack of starts)? Of course that would be contingent on another CB (Marshall, etc.) hitting it big or Subotic choosing the US.
