'Tis the season... again

And no, I'm not referring to that infernal early Christmas Muzak at the mall. I don't have a mall, so why would it be that?

I am referring to the silly season. Ho ho ho. Soon, girls and boys, clubs will unwrap their fancy new transfer presents - several of which are bound to be American-made.

Since it's a busy day and I have someone distracting me like a distracting distracter from Distractoville, I will just spit out the early word with no further ceremony.

Word has gone 'round that Aarhus GF will soon make it three Americans by signing New England Revs gentleman lockdown artist Michael Parkhurst, but club press officer Bo Jensen just told me that the player is neither there for talks nor is he expected for talks shortly. He sounded a bit funny making the denial, but then again, maybe he was just under the influence of Danish Christmas Muzak.

UPDATE: I have been informed that Parkhurst is set to sign with FC Nordsjælland, as suggested in the reader comment. Luckily, I have someone I can call tomorrow to get the official word.

I also have learned that Greg Folk will begin a trial at Belgian top divison side Tubize tomorrow. I should also have a Kamani Hill update before too long.

UPDATE: I just got off the phone with agent Lyle Yorks, who had a few tidbits for me.
  • FC Dallas striker Kenny Cooper is in play big time. There are no serious talks with anyone because teams are still battling for position. He has interest from multiple teams in the UK and Germany, as well as one suitor in La Liga. By my read, it seems that Rosenborg have been priced out... which could mean they, in turn, ring up L.A. forward Edson Buddle again.
  • Toronto FC defender Marvell Wynne has yet to receive an official offer, but a gaggle of clubs from Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands are in contact.
  • Chicago defender Gonzalo Segares is drawing interest, but he didn't name specifics.
  • PSV's Mexico star Carlos Salcido may well move in January, but he isn't interested in a rumoured move to Argentina. He does have a ton of interest from all over Europe, including loan propositions.
Of course, I forgot to ask about Kamani Hill - because I'm an idiot. I can try him again tomorrow.

UPDATE: Bodø/Glimt remain interested in Hill, but he may have another trial or two to come.

I very well may add more to this as the day goes, plus I will drop Who likes goals? tonight. I will have my belated Top 5 probably tomorrow, plus I have a fun guest Top 5 from good buddy Poul-Henrik Worm to post.

Forgive my slack this weekend. I ended up having multiple Thanksgiving dinners on different nights, and I forgot how sleepy mass amounts of turkey can make me. It was good to spend some time with a family, though, even if it wasn't mine.

Side note: Dutch people LOVE Thanksgiving food. They went to town, Jack!

I don't think you have the location right. I hear it's FCN.

Oh, that was just something heard and checked out. I hope to get better word from a proper source shortly.

thanks for the info Greg.

Will you be doing a list of possible American transfers each week or so?

Greg Seltzer said...

Thanks for reading, CG.

And Stephen, I'm guessing these little updates will come more than once a week over the next two months. This could be a very active transfer window for Americans.

Greg, have you heard anything about a Heath Pearce transfer?

Greg Seltzer said...

Just a little bit, Amy... but nothing I can repeat here at this time. :D

How about Bobby Convey?

Greg Seltzer said...

On Convey, ask me in a few weeks. But yeah... I think something is gonna happen there, something "North Sea-ish".

Cool, I'll ask again later. So besides the UK, we are looking at Belguim, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Norway or Sweden.

Clint Dempsey? He appears to have gotten himself back into the starting line up at Fulham. So is he content now and will stay?

Thanks.
