Man, two middle-of-the-night World Cup qualis in five days is rough! Quoth Liz Lemon: I think I need to go talk to some food about this...#1 - I'd expect at least three, if not more changes when the U.S. tackles Trinidad & Tobago. Tim Howard will start in goal, Oguchi Onyewu looks fit to reclaim his center back role from Danny Califf and the arrival of Jonathan Bornstein tells me Heath Pearce will move to the bench.
I hope I'm wrong, but my guess is that Sacha Kljestan retains his place, which I would be giving to Mo Edu right about now.
#2 - In case you missed it, NSC pal Andrea Canales throws more deserved cold water on the 'Nats over at Goal.
#3 - Red Card super thug Luis Arroyave scores a USMNT double today: he talks with Brad Guzan about the El Salvador draw and with Bob Bradley about camp standout Jozy Altidore.
#4 - Mexico's half-American left back Edgar
Castillo will not be able to play against Honduras on Wednesday because (drum roll)... he lost his passport. On a related note, Touchline ace Luis Bueno breaks the story of his also being a passport 'dumbass'. What a reporter!
#5 - What have I been up to? Well... I posted a chat with D.C. United's Christian Gomez, updated my MLS Club Ladder and (if you didn't catch it) dropped my U.S. v El Salvador Player Ratings on Sunday.
#6 - I'm not gonna say another bad word about Adi Akinbiyi 'til he misses a really painful sitter.
I swear, Houston. My word is my honor.
#7 - Oh dear... is MLS playing to favored agents? I can't help but feel such a thing would have the players' union livid. I hope this is not true as told. I really, really, really do.
#8 - MLS Player of the Week stays in Seattle, but this time it's The Castle Dweller.
#9 - England boss Fabio Capello has called in Gabriel Abonglahor to replace an in jured Darren Bent.
Quick question: why was this switch even necessary? Gaby has easily outplayed Bent this season.
#10 - The other day in Boston, Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho talked all kinds of American soccer at a presser to promote their upcoming summer visit.
#11 - Jeff Parke has now signed a one-year deal with Vancouver. Hmmm.
#12 - It seems there were a lot of serious problems at the Columbus v Toronto match this weekend, and both sets of fans have reasons to gripe.
Bill Archer brings the valid Crew-point as only he can, while The 24th Minute says the Columbus security detail is up to un-funny business again.
I am especially furious that some TFC fans would hurl ripped metal around and accost people holding the hands of children (among other bizarre things), but, sweet Moses, MLS needs to get a handle on this Crew Stadium security situation before someone is killed at a league match. Or would that also be good press somehow?
You may notice that USA Today scribe Beau Dure said he plans to dig into this story on the comments of the 24th Minute post. I, for one, will be waiting anxiously for his report.
#13 - And while we're looking at MLS commish Don Garber, I found it disturbing to read that Portland is about $63 million short on stadium funding at the moment.
Long term play? You do realize that words have meanings, yes?
#14 - FSC beat out ESPN for Champions League broadcast rights in the States. Wow.

i wish mourinho would have come to mls.
Hey Greg, I was reading through your MLS ladder, and just thought I would point out a little mistake.
But the United/Houston game is this weekend! In the DC United bit, you say they are off for the weekend.
Otherwise, terrific work as usual, on all fronts.
Also saw a rumor (Daily Star I think), that said that Sunderland was looking at Zak Whitbread from Milwall. Have you heard anything about this?
@ Jason: The Special One has said before that he wants to coach in America one day.
@ Steven: Thanks for the catch and the kind words. These double all-nighter WCQ's make me drowsy in the head! :D
I have seen various UK tabloid "reports" to that Zak effect. It's not something I would ask a player deep into a promotion run, and unless the manager does, the club won't say a word. I do think that he will have a few Championship suitors this summer - whether a Prem club gets involved or not is anybody's guess.
In your MLS ladder piece on Soccer365, you said that CUSA have not been scored upon this season but Omar Cummings of the Rapids scored against Chivas USA on the opening weekend.
why would pick Edu in place of Klejstan? Why not Torres? Torres tackled very well the other night and got in and out of pressure situations very well.
Because Edu is a legit two-way midfielder with proper defensive capabilities. Torres is an attacker.
Now, if Bobbo finally decides to change formation... nah, won't happen. But if he wants to play 3 attacking midfielders, he should use a st that has 3 attacking midfielders in it - not try to cram 3 where 2 should go.
