Oh, where to start where to start where to start? I may add more later...#1 - Toronto FC got well at home last night (media player link), dealing Chivas USA their first loss of the season. And that is the thanks I get for putting them at #1. Hrmph.
Meanwhile, D.C. United advanced past FC Dallas in early Open Cup action.
#2 - In the last few days, I've caught up with Alejandro Bedoya (his team growing in confidence), Hunter Freeman (injury update) and Benny Feilhaber (back in the line-up at a new position).
#3 - Crew netminder Will Hesmer is in major doubt for their showdown visit from Chicago, but at least they have a back-up with experience behind that defense in Andy Gruenebaum.
On another injury note, the Revs have seen Chris Albright go under the knife.
#4 - Soccer Insider Steven Goff says the next team on the "will they or won't they come for the MLS All-Star Game" merry-go-round is Tim Howard's Everton, no strangers to summer jaunts to America.
#5 - The L.A. Galaxy are giving away tickets now. Oof.
#6 - The Philly Examiner runs down potential head coaches for the expansion team. I should note, they can almost certainly forget hiring Earnie Stewart. It was also quite cheeky to list Mr. Hudson in the honorable mentions. I do like his #1 choice, though.
#7 - The U.S. U-17 National Team has a chance to clinch qualification against Canada today thanks to a rout of Cuba on Tuesday.
#8 - Finally, a proper look at Mo Edu's winner from the weekend...

Did you see MLS is getting $10 million for the Beckham extension? What do you think Greg? I think that's a pretty good amount.

As a straight up front cash amount for that length of time, yeah, it's great... but it's far from that simple.
One would have to weigh the opportunity cost (lost revenue and cred with fans, etc.), and in that light, it looks a barely passable amount at best.
I remain unconvinced it was a shrewd move for any of the parties.
why should they not consider earnie stewart?
I like how the thought of Claudio Reyna coaching peaks peoples interest, even if they didn't care for him. I was a fan.
I'd guess that, unless Earnie has a specific and strong desire to coach an MLS expansion club, there is no way Philly could get him out of a mid-topper Eredivisie GM job.
Would you make that move? I certainly wouldn't.
