Diskerud Crackers Inc.

Yep, U.S. U-20 World Cup hopeful Mikkel Diskerud has scored again, this time with a nasty volley to the far corner (play starts at 4:35 mark of clip) to cap a 2-0 Stabæk victory over Tromsø on Monday night. Mix needed only seven minutes on the pitch to bag his third league goal of the young season in only 236 minutes of action.

And suddenly, the Norwegian press are making a big deal out of his international status...

Would Bob consider using a roster spot for Mix in the Gold Cup? Or do we have to wait until the U20 WC?

The kid clearly states at the bottom of the article that the US has better chances to play in the Olympics (and other big tournaments. That says a lot about the way he thinks. Essentially, he is Guiseppe Rossi-ing Norway.

I hope Rongen keeps on top of this and kids in similar situations. We're good at the back and in defense. A wealth of choices for creative attacking palyers, not so much.

I think a callup (U-20 or otherwise) is in order. I hope the USSF is already in touch with his representatives.

All the U.S. can do is keeping inviting him to camps. That goal was outstanding. Mix is a really nice kid and a talent that can't be ignored. We shouldn't let ourselves get too excited, but just see if we can luck out unlike with Subotic and Rossi.

Wow! You all want this guy on the team bad, huh?!

@ Adam: I'm not sure if da Bob dropped in on Mix during one of his two Euro-trips. I doubt he'd get a GC call, but would bet on the U20WC call.

@ Reid: The US actually called him first, and to a higher level, so I'm not sure if that creates his loyalty or it *is* his loyalty. And I don't really care, these guys are all people who should do what makes them happy like anyone else.

@ QJA: They are. He was called to the recent U20 camp, but his club turned it down because they're in midseason.

@ Sean: Oh, he'll be back.

It think US fans FREAK OUT now over players like this after failures with Castillo and Subotic (I don't count Rossi because he was always headed to Italia).
