While we track Americans in Europa League, let's throw a few more bits out there...
#1 - Oguchi Onyewu made his AC Milan debut on Wednesday, coming on at halftime in a 2-1 World Football Challenge loss to Club America. The U.S. star was beaten over the top on the Mexicans' splendid opener.
Before the game, U.S. Soccer Players' Brooke Tunstall got a chance to talk to Onyewu (lucky devil! Milan won't let me at him yet!).
In case you missed it, here are the full highlights, and then a Gooch-specific reel:
#2 - The USMNT match notes for tonight's Gold Cup semifinal against Honduras in Chicago is up.
#3 - Also last night, 18-year old Christine Nairn fired the only goal as the USWNT notched their second 1-0 win over Canada in five days. No highlights as of yet.
#4 - The L.A. Riot Squad has released its own statement about the weekend incident that saw one of their members hop down to field level to "encounter" David Beckham's nutty twin. It seems reports that the offending fan has been banished forever are quite premature.
#5 - ESPN is reporting that Wake Forest striker Cody Arnoux is set to sign with Everton. Both he and Anton Peterlin are expected to be with the team when they face the MLS All-Stars next week.
#6 - By the way, did ya notice how the Soccer365 story and Motzkin confirmation on NSC were ignored by the mainstreams yesterday? We had all the info first and were the only ones to speak with the club, but nearly all ensuing Donovan reports credited Goal.
"Alright, then. I see how it is," he said, huffing off to his usual pre-USMNT match nap.

That's bogus--typical mainstream media.
FYI-when I told my girlfriend yesterday that Livorno was interested in Donovan and Clark, I directly cited your post.
Right on, brother.
(solidarity fist)
wow..your girlfriend actually cares enough. I tell my girl stuff, but still the only soccer players she knows are Landon, Beckham, and Cristiano. At least she doesn't make me watch her reality t.v.
As for 365 getting the short end of the stick...that sucks. I think if 365 gave itself a makeover visually that would do a lot in terms of competeing with goal.com. 365 may not have the resources or the graphic design of goal.com, but they do have some of the reporting in the business. I love the partnership with BigSoccer and of course NSC.
Oh--no, no. My girlfriend doesn't actually CARE. But then again, I tell her a lot of things (soccer- and non-soccer-related) that she doesn't care about. Ah, well. Can't wait to get married (again).
Main point is that I noticed the depth of the report and the sourcing. So many media outlets cite other media outlets. That's a problem. Thanks for getting to the source on this and on so many of your posts, Greg.
If I might weigh in on BigSoccer, however--I think an increasingly involved partnership with that group would not be beneficial. I value noshortcorners.com and soccer365.com for their relevance, accuracy, and intelligence. BigSoccer is lacking the latter two, at the very least.
Greg,
Any chance you can track down Freddy Adu? He's not going to be with Benfica at the Ajax preseason tournament, and there's some significant worry about where he's going to end up this season.
NSC deserves it's props too. You guys are the best of the best, and put me one degree away from the actual news and information.
I love how you guys actually can provide a bit of color and info with the smaller stories. Not like how Goal is always quoting Soccernet quoting FSC quoting Goal... etc. Recursive cows.
Certainly Big Soccer doesn't have the credibilty, intelligence, and the accuracy of goal or 365, but it is a sucessful site. It's kind of the Wild West of soccer talk with a lot crazy talk going on. Sometimes people on there find great stuff that's actually credible. I don't read the articles on there too much. But I think the forums can benefit 365. Help the site make some dough
Just to be clear, I wasn't needling Goal. I have friends over at Goal. I was needling the others. Made me feel like Jon Stewart for a second. :D
Hey Greg, its happened to us all more than a few times. In a perfect world, you'd be getting the props (and credit for the scoops) you deserve.
