USMNT v Honduras LIVE

This won't be a full-bore LIVE like you're all accustomed to, but I know some West coasters are still stuck at work.

In any event, here is your USMNT line-up to face Honduras for a place in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final:

Perkins; Heaps, Goodson, Marshall, Pearce; Holden, Beckerman, Pause, Rogers; Arnaud, Ching

Bench: Busch, Quaranta, Evans, Clark, Cronin, Cooper, Parkhurst

Kick off is in about an hour. I'll be back just before with a prediction.

--

6.46 PM CT - It is currently raining with a lightning advisory, so the kickoff may be delayed. While we wait to find out, I will go ahead and call this one: 2-1 USA.

6.55 PM - The players have still yet to take the field for warm-ups. Looks like the kickoff will be delayed until 5-10 minutes past the hour.

6.58 PM - Players are starting to appear on the pitch. Don't forget the U.S. Matchtracker has all the action plus stats.

7.00 PM - Out the tunnel they come...

FIRST HALF

1'

Game on.

8'

The teams have traded early pressure, but no shots on goal as of yet.

16'

The U.S. are playing aggressively and crossing well. Heaps, Ching and Goodson have threatened with headers thus far.

21'

Perkins makes a big save on Chavez's well-hit floater.

29'

Still no score, but some good action, mostly in the USMNT direction.

42'

Max Bretos pronounces "Guzan" two different ways in one sentence. Magic.

43'

Seconds later, Escobar makes an acrobatic save on Holden's free kick drive.

45'

Directly after Rogers forces a good save, Goodson slams a corner kick header home! USA 1-0!

HALFTIME

--

The U.S. have largely had control and are good value for their lead at the break. Top USMNT performers: Pause, the entire backline, Holden and Rogers.

--

SECOND HALF

46'

Second half starts...

49'

Marshall robbed by Escobar on a corner.

58'

Arnaud and Holden slightly trouble Escobar, and then Perkins gobbles up a dangerous cross at the other end.

64'

Rogers and Medina knock heads - it looks bad at first, but both are up and about now.

74'

Honduras have become more urgent in attack.

78'

Costly booked for a silly dive in the area.

84'

Perkins stuffs Costly after the Honduras ace is lobbed in alone. BIG stop.

86'

Cooper is on for Arnaud.

88'

Heaps robbed by Escobar on a poorly-marked corner.

90'

A great team effort ends with Cooper doubling the lead from close range. 2-0 USA!

FULL TIME

--

The 'Nats advance to Sunday's final in New York, where they will face the winner of the Soldier Field nightcap between Costa Rica and Mexico. I'll make a new post for highlight reels from both games and will have my Player Ratings up some time tomorrow morning over at S365.

Enjoy your evening, friends.

Greg--

How do you watch USMNT games live over there? Are you doing a stream or is there a channel that has rights to the games? It seems like an awfully minor competition for Dutch TV to show.

BTW, I envy you living in Amsterdam. My wife was based in Brussels while we were engaged and I got up there for a long weekend. Lovely, lovely city. I loved being able to walk everywhere.

And, on a soccer note, I am more impressed by Holden all the time. Bright, bright future (and the free kicks are so much better than Donovan's).

Oh, and CONCACAF officiating is atrocious.

Corky, it depends on the competition. Every Confederations Cup match was shown on Dutch TV, and the same goes for all events such as the Olympics and youth World Cups.

Some lesser matches (from a world standpoint), I can get on the dish provided they're on the right channels.

The few stragglers force me to a stream, but any which way, I always go to the video for a second viewing.

Actually, come to think of it, many lesser youth tourneys are also shown on Eurosport, such as Toulon.
