I was able to attend the game. Both teams brought their B-Teams except for Wambach and Sinclair. While the women's game is a less athletic affair, the technique these players display is fantastic. Wambach was clearly the class of the bunch through her combination of size, speed, technical ability and ability to read the game. Megan Rapinoe and Tobin Heath brought a flair to the game I've only seen from players like Marta. Hopefully they can be nurtured to the point where their abilities will allow them to take over games on a similar level. I really believe Sundhage is fantastic for that team and the program.
I wish more outsiders could be incorporated into the men's program. Not necessarily as head coach, but as sets of outside eyes that can be trusted to help develop players that might have been overlooked by the 'system'.
What a different environment a women's game is from a men's game. Seemed like the audience was: hard core soccer fans + families with girls that play soccer + hardcore lesbians. What a mix!
