A few things...

Another post held back from Monday, but fresher and larger for it...

#1 - I'm sure you're all wondering about Freddy Adu's situation, so I'll tell you what I know in nutshell form of what I can/am willing to air .

I've had two trusted separate Euro-birdies tell me that the Odense BK loan was probably going to be sealed by the end of the week. However, I just got off the phone with the club, who said 'He is a player we are following' but that no talks had taken place as of yet. Hmmm. At this moment, I kinda believe the OB source was blowing a little smoke, but let's move on.

Not one to drop a chase, I have narrowed the list of possible Eredivisie suitors to four. I don't know if it even matters... but let's just see how it all plays out, eh?

LIGHTNING UPDATE: I have now been told by a birdie that Freddinho is heading to Denmark tomorrow. This means the club was telling tales. That rarely happens, usually they just decline to comment. In any event, this deal looks like a go.

#2 - A quick NSC note: after setting our record week for traffic at Sunday's close, yesterday was a record day for us and we owe it all to you. Thanks for reading, we very much appreciate it.

#3 - Trinidad & Tobago suffer some tough luck as newcomers Jlloyd Samuel (registration not complete) and Bobby Zamora (injury) will not be available for tomorrow's World Cup qualifier against El Salvador.

#4 - Real Salt Lake honcho Dave Checketts wants to bring the shootout back to MLS.

No. Just flat no. Quoth Homer Simpson: "The foot has spoken."

#5 - In case you missed it, Steven Taylor called Newcastle 'a joke'. I'm guessing he is now eagerly for sale.

#6 - Did you know that MLSNet had an Alums Tracker? Nice.

#7 - Chicago Red Stars and USWNT ace Lindsay Tarpley tore her ACL on on WPS closing day. Harsh. She is expected back early next season.

#8 -
Another in case you missed it item: I reported yesterday that Fulham star Clint Dempsey will soon ink a fresh four-year deal with the club. Congrats, Deuce.

#9 - I was informed that Charleroi like trialist Bryan Arguez quite a bit, but the test match they wanted him to play in was pushed back to today. I'll keep an eye on it, but I can relay that positive buzz is coming out of Belgium on this one.

#10 - I'm not exactly sure who the author is, but DuNord has a great Pt. 1 in what promises to be a series highlighting the biggest, most agonizing flops in Serie A annals. Good stuff.

#11 - Landon Donovan talks to the Boston Examiner a little about MLS salary cap matters.

#12 - Time to change a bookmark - The USMNT Blog has moved to shiny new digs.

#13 - Man of the Match Mike Grella was interviewed by Sky after Leeds' Carling Cup win on Monday night.

#14 - The ESPN crew breaks down Jozy Altidore's move to Hull, and then to stoke the fire for tomorrow's monster WCQ clash with Mexico at Azteca, they take a look at U.S. keeper Tim Howard.

There's a reason you're breaking traffic records, Greg. This site has surpassed SBI as my go-to site for soccer news, and I'm guessing I'm not alone.

Two things I like specifically about this site: there's a little more discussion of actual soccer tactics here than most other sites, and I like (as I've harped on before) how much primary reporting you guys do. It feels like you're plugged into all of the European leagues in a way US-based reporters simply can't be.

Finally: I, for one, would love to see posts about the relative merits of different formations. For example, Wegner's recent decision (or consideration) to play a 4-5-1, which it seems like many of the successful clubs (ManU, etc.) utilize these days. As a Villa fan, they were, by far, at their best last year when they ran a 4-5-1 with Gabby Abgonlahor up top, and Young and Milner on the wings.

Anyway, thanks for all the hard work!

Ditto as to what Matt said.

This is my go-to besides (Soccer Insider - Mostly DC United news there) for soccer news.

BTW -- If you need any assistance with any technical stuff/web stuff, shoot me an email, I'd be more than glad to help.

Glad to hear your numbers are skyrocketing Greg. You deserve a lot of attention for the stuff you put out.

What do you think about Freddy's (potential) move to Odense? Does he fit into what they do?

It's always a bit worrisome when a player moves to a team that's 4-5 weeks into its season and playing well.

Congrats Greg on your success. This site has all of the best info on transfers and that's why I come here. Your one of the three blogs i read. SBI and Goff's being the other two.

Fantstic work.

I have quite a bit of expertise in the advertising arena if your interested. I see you use affiliate future, but there are certainly more profitable avenues for you to use. Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks for the support, everyone. The Distracter thinks you're all cool.

@ bham: At first glance, Freddy would presumably be in competition for minutes as the #10 behind two strikers. This just so happens to be a spot the club is looking to upgrade as they don't seem too happy with newcomer Caca (you may recognize the name, he's arrived from Aalborg BK).

Do you think his particular skill set translates well to that particular position in this league?

Benny seems to be having his success with Aarhus in a similar setup, but I don't know that I'd consider the two similar players.

Wondering if I can get a straight answer on this. Will the US vs Mexico game be shown on the ESPN network or only on the hispanic televison station?

I'm just happy this blog doesn't end every post with three inane questions asking me what I think about Fulham's decision to resign Clint Dempsey? Do I like it? Do I think Dempsey should transfer to Man U? I should speak out!

@ Eagles: mun2 is allowing US cable and satellite providers to carry the game for free. Go to this page and scroll down just a bit to find out if your provider is hooked up already or ask them to if they are not.

let's elevate the conversation Greg and say that Odense source "was telling porkies" :) much better
