I know there was an AFT yesterday. And here's another while I try to think of a good Top 5 List topic...#1 - ESPN has tabbed 11 guys to watch at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup. If you hadn't guessed by now, the American inclusion is a bit of a surprise: keeper Brian Perk.
I was planning a similar article tomorrow at S365, but have now seen several of these around. Hmm. I guess I'll make up my own list and see if I'm bringing anything new to the table. Or maybe I'll just come up with a different preview idea altogether.
#2 - FIFA provides a by the numbers for the tourney.
#3 - It's hardly a surprise, but comedian and soccer nut/owner/photographer/salesman Drew Carey has joined the U.S. World Cup '18 or '22 bid.
Now, he should call up Rivers Cuomo and put together a globally-themed music video for his soccer ditty to show the judging panel.
#4 - Soccer y Fútbol all-star Bernardo Fallas gives the wrap-up on a big cup night for the Dynamo, which included the season debut of captain Eddie Robinson.
#5 - NSC pal Kristian Dyer spells out why interim boss Richie Williams should get the Red Bulls job.
#6 - Fake Sigi Schmid takes a look at how WPS contracts differ from those in MLS.
#7 - Soccer America's Ridge Mahoney offers up a sad goodbye to seemingly retiring San Jose fan favorite Darren Huckerby. I often wonder how different this season may have gone for the Quakes had he been able to stay fit.
#8 - So... Sol Campbell agrees a shock move to Sven Eriksson's League Two Notts County, shows up looking every bit an out-of-shape 35-year old and then ditches them after one mediocre outing with the club. Got all that?
I'd ask who's advising this guy, but I already know.
#9 - Royal Liege midfielder Niko Gkionis drops by Jared Montz's blog to talk about his debut in the Belgian second flight.
I've exchanged a few emails with Niko. Though his league falls below my coverage line, I am keeping an eye on him.
#10 - Finally, Rancid drummer and Royal Army season ticket holder Brandon Steineckart kicks it with RSL keeper Nick Rimando...
- Greg Seltzer
