Sounders christen trophy case

A mere five months after beginning competition, the Seattle Sounders have bagged their first silver, besting home side D.C. United 2-1 in Wednesday's U.S. Open Cup final. We have post-game reactions, and of course, the reel...

When I hear Max Bretos yell "Yeeeesssss!" I become physically ill.

Congrats to the Sounders. I think they would have won regardless of Wicks's sending off, but what in the world was Wicks thinking? It's not like Montero kicked him or taunted him after the goal. Wicks's just stomped on him because he was mad that Montero scored.

The kid has some serious anger issues.

the guy has SERIOUS anger issues, but as Montero kicked the ball his follow through caught Wicks in the under arm/arm pit area. Not sure if it hurt, but that is why I believe he was pissed (in combo with the goal obviously).

Not sure, but there is no excuse. Montero also was a baby. I could not root for either of the dip s--ts

Greg, any word on why the Pearce/Bursaspor deal fell through?

That's a great question, KO, and I am digging into it. Frankly, the story given by the club (that Pearce suddenly wanted to renegotiate before signing and forced them to miss the deadline) sounds like a total bag of hooey.

I agree that it sounds bizarre. I do wonder, however, if all of the background stuff had anything to do with Pearce looking so, um, "off" at the press conference.

I'll miss your transfer updates now that the window is closed.

As I said, to me, he just looked half asleep. He was probably up at some ungodly hour to fly to Turkey quickly.

As for transfer situations, I have more news to come for you guys. So don't frown. It's not done yet.

Actually, I'm now going to backtrack on that. He looks both extremely tired AND extremely confused - for good reason.

I can't say more now, so let's just all agree to realize the club is telling tales.

So does that mean Pierce to FC Dallas or can he sign anywhere still since his a free agent?
