I think I've found someone who can solve the country's fiscal woes. Just one primary question: are you at all concerned about an uprising?#1 - Get this. Well, maybe sit down first. You aren't ready for it, no matter how tough you think you are. Please table any glass ewers you may be holding. Your knees will wobble. You may feint like Scarlett.
A British scribe says the USMNT are 'one of the teams to watch" at World Cup 2010.
No, really. I have proof.
#2 - Erstwhile Ferencvaros forward Carlos Diaz scored on his debut with Trinidadian side W Connection. I had a birdie tell me he was coming to MLS, which didn't work out (obviously) - so it's good to see him off the mark so fast.
#3 - Speaking of Americans Abroads in new places, Ljungskile keeper Colin Burns is excited to head to Norwegian promotion chasers Sarpsborg 08 in January.
#4 - Uh oh. Portland drama again.
#5 - This weekend's Top 5 Tilts is up. Do note if you missed that last post that the U.S. v Honduras match is being replayed on DirecTV channel 248 on Sunday at 5 PM.
S365 also has my U.S. v Costa Rica ratings, if you missed them. I've already gotten two nasty emails over the article, so you know it's good.
#6 - This is priceless. I could go into a long spiel explaining how Blackburn usually terrorize Burnley and so on... but I'll just toss this one over to 101 Goals Blog for the lowdown on Burnley's sweet, sweet revenge ahead of this weekend's derby (complete with video).
Price. Less.
#7 - Well, we may soon have another Prem team splashing cash all around. New Birmingham owner Carson Yeung has promised coach Alex McLeish £40 million for transfers in January and another £40 million next summer - plus the dangling carrot of more to come if they are successfully on the rise.
#8 - With tomorrow's USL Division One final second leg looming, Jared Montz has a chat with Vancouver Assistant coach Todd Wawrousek.
#9 - Awww. Sir Alex is sooooo cute when he flirts. Just ask Steven Defour.
#10 - A double shot from the Guardian: David Beckham is still integral to England hopes and an ode to the embattled Argentina manager subtly entitled: Just because Maradona's paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get him.
#11 - In the latest of comic book Zizou's Ultimate Search player capture episodes is out. Maybe I'm just rude or something. but... shouldn't this be cooler? It's actually quite boring to me.
I can't wait for the one where he lands Ade Akinbiyi. That should rule.
#12 - And finally, in case you missed it last night, Charlie Davies' family has released a statement to thank all of you USMNT fans for showing the love.
The outpouring of support for Charlie calls to mind a great Cornell West quote from an interview show that always stayed with me: 'Justice is what loves looks like in public'.
And so is this, Dr. West.

Re. Item #1. As with most World Cup teams' chances, it'll all depend on the draw. For all the shortcomings of the 2006 team, they drew what turned out to be a pretty tough group (not that there are too many gimmes in the World Cup anyway).
There's a lot of talent on this team. Some of it's younger and rawer than one might like. It's going to depend on the draw, and what kind of form these guys are in next summer.
