A few things...
Tonight on 30 Rock, Liz and jack visit Kenneth's hometown. Oh my, this should be good...
#1 - Via Columbus Dispatch all-star Shawn Mitchell, Crew defender Chad Marshall has been suddenly upgraded all the way to probable. Meanwhile, Real Salt Lake have picked up a few small knocks here and there.
An upset course diverted?
#2 - My next-to-last MLS Ladder of the season is up.
#3 - Carling Cup hero Brad Guzan is suddenly talking about chasing not just the Aston Villa #1 job, but the #1 USMNT job. Like... now. Not in-the-future, some day kinda talk.
I still haven't found proper highlights of the match, but if you are in the UK or know some funny computer trick, they are available here.
I do, however, have a reel of the shootout filmed from directly behind the goal in the stands...
#4 - While we're watching videos, let's check in on the U.S. U-17's prep for today's World Cup clash with Malawi. Here is today's line-up:
Edwards; Zavaleta, Herold, Watts, Polak, Duran, Shinsky, Palodichuk, Gil, Chavez, McInerney
#5 - There is actually a con man working in American soccer circles. I will start working on the screenplay as soon as I finish this post. And I shall call the anti-hero "Jack Warner". Yes.
#6 - Good ol' Buzz at 3rd Degree has a pair of interesting posts: the effort to re-sign impending free agent Dax McCarty and his unmatched Practice Observations revealing that local product Lee Nguyen is tearing it up in training with the club.
#7 - Back with another one-two punch: Climbing The Ladder boggles the mind with stats about all of the goals scored in MLS this season and closes the book on their annual OTFATT (on the field all the time) list.
#8 - Oh yeah, I forgot to reveal my MLS awards votes. To be honest, I'm not even sure they got in by the deadline. I had an email problem that morning and I'm not sure the first one got sent properly. I re-mailed them in, but who knows?
In any event, my picked winners for the main prizes:
MVP - Shalrie Joseph
Rookie - Omar Gonzalez
Defender - Jhon Kennedy Hurtado
Newcomer - Fredy Montero
Coach - Preki
#9 - The Guardian goes through the rubble of Real Madrid's appalling 4-0 cup loss to some club none of us had ever heard of before.
#10 - Finally, now may not be the best time for females to join the big city South African police forces. They have a World Cup prostitution plan, so you already know the picture in the article linked is gonna be NSFE (not safe for Earth).
