No LIVE today for our U-17 World Cup kickoff, but I will come back at halftime with an update and a few words, naturally followed by all the roundup regalia after the final whistle.
Here is your USA line-up, we start this one off at the top of the hour:
Edwards; Kitchen, Herold, Watts, Polak; Gil, Palodichuk, Duran, Shinsky; Jerome, McInerney
As always, you can follow along at US Soccer's Matchtracker. Back at the break...
--
QUICK UPDATE: Five minutes in, Spain are down to 10 men and Jack McInerney has the U.S. up 1-0 after winning a keeper challenge. I think that qualifies as a "dream World Cup start".
--
HALFTIME UPDATE: The handful Borja got loose in the 22nd minute and Sarabia put Spain up eight minutes later, and that's where we stand. Coach Cabrera will probably tell his team they should be up - and he'd be right.
--
FULL TIME: Spain wins 2-1 and the Americans will definitely feel like they let a result get away. The good news is the group gets much easier from here.
UPDATE: Highlights.

What a great start. Euro clubs are going to be all over McInerey, he has a nose for the goal. It's like we're finally getting the karma from the Orozco red in the Olympics.
Ugh. Concern over the pace of the back four seems preety warranted. Borja is having a field day
