If like me, you were wondering and wondering what got Hannover 96 and Germany keeper Robert Enke so depressed to end his life last week, his father has revealed a stunning cause: fear of failure on the pitch. And here's the kicker... Dirk Enke is a sports psychologist.
Somehow, this episode just became much sadder and much more confusing.

It seems to me that suicide is such a layered and multi-faceted thing that it's nearly impossible to pinpoint exactly when and where a person decides to take their own life--but this is exactly the kind of thing that people are naturally inclined to investigate after a loved one's suicide. How sad. He must have been very troubled, indeed, to have made that decision and felt justified in doing so.
