A few things...

#1 - After seeing two points grifted by Michael Dawson's late cracker, Aston Villa keeper Brad Friedel told reporters that Brad Guzan's declaration of pushing the elder was no joke. He is pushing the starter, and the starter was terrific this week.

#2 - I think it is safe to say that we can expect to see AGF attacker Jeremiah White in a new shirt after this Danish season ends. His contract is running out and a source close to the club has told me it seems very unlikely he will be re-signed.

As you'd imagine, I have asked around to see if MLS (and in particular Philly) is a current option and have been told by everyone asked that there has not been any such contact as of yet.

#3 - Speaking of USMNT attackers overseas, I was thinking... how in the hell can DaMarcus Beasley not find any time with Rangers? That group on the field has been shabby for weeks on end. They really miss Mo Edu and Pedro Mendes, and the attack is just not doing the business. I don't get it.

#4 - Check this out. This website has gone through all international results ever and run them through as if it was a boxing organization with a champion at all times, title bouts and such. And get this: the USMNT v the Netherlands friendly is a title bout. The Dutch currently hold the belt, which means a first win ever against Oranje makes the 'Nats (say it with me) HEAVYWEEEEIGHT CHAMPIOOOOONS OF THE WOOOOORLD.

Ahem. Sorry.

#5 - LIFE magazine has run a nice gallery of photos of Pelé to commemorate the 40th anniversary of his 1,000th goal. And he makes no predictions, so it's all fun.

#6 - Okay, I'm gonna say this again... if David Beckham needs a tactical assault team to protect him at the World Cup draw, should the thing even be held in the place that he needs a tactical assault team just to protect him at the draw? I'm all for expanding the game and spreading the money around, but FIFA really seems to be taking risks with team/fan safety lately.

#7 - And finally, D.C. United is having another used equipment sale for a good cause. I didn't find a link, so I'll just reproduce the press release here:

D.C. United today announced plans for the club’s annual Holiday Equipment Sale. Set for Saturday, December 5 from 12 to 4 p.m., the event will be held at the VW Lounge in RFK Stadium and will feature authentic D.C. United team-issued gear. All proceeds from the sale will benefit United’s charitable arm, United for D.C., which advances opportunities for economically, physically and mentally disadvantaged youth of the greater Washington D.C. area.

The sale will include items such as game-worn player jerseys and shorts, practice jerseys, long sleeve tops, sweatshirts, team jackets, training pants, team polos, and match balls. This sale is open to the general public so please plan on arriving early and entering through Gate A of RFK Stadium. Only cash and credit cards will be accepted.

Founded in 2002, United for D.C. serves youth and families with a focus on literacy and healthy lifestyles. Through the Kicks for Kids program, more than 10,000 underprivileged children had the opportunity to watch United play this season alone. United Reads is currently active in six elementary schools in Washington D.C. and has distributed over 12,000 new books throughout 2008. United Soccer Club is an after-school soccer program, which teaches fundamental skills and hosts games and scrimmages in seven sites throughout Washington, D.C.
