Gomez. Gomez. Gomez. Gomez.

Puebla forward Herculez Gomez bagged a goal for the fourth straight game (and fifth from six) against Pumas on Sunday - not that it ended up doing his side much good. His moment comes on the first play in the clip.

Is it just me, or would Gomez be great for the Nats, running off of Jozy? This is the third goal of his I've seen that stems from really smart runs to beat the defense. Gomez knows how to get into the box, which is a quality that Landon has (and Davies, but will Davies have it when he gets back?), but Landon is usually pegged for duty out on the wing.

I really think Gomez would meet a lot of our striking needs at the moment. Any reason why he didn't get a look v. Netherlands? If we could take Findley, we could have taken Gomez.

His second goal should have been recognized. Serious mistakes by the refs.

@DM: It's just you.

Why exactly is that?

Anyway, it is a bit unfortunate for Gomez that he is only just now getting hot again. If he keeps it up I could see Bob bringing him in for Turkey and/or Czech but he'd have to explode in those games to make the trip to SA.

@Jon:

Bradley won't be bringing Gomez in for the Turkey and Czech Republic games. He has to submit a preliminary roster at the beginning of May, and I just can't see how Gomez would receive a shock inclusion on that list. The Turkey and Czech Republic games are not going to be "try-out" games. Those games will be used to fine-tune the line-up and tactics.

I guess anything could happen but his last cap with the USMNT was in 2007 in the Copa America. With Bedoya emerging and the (unlikely) possibility that Davies could be back, I seriously doubt that Bob Bradley will attempt to fill any holes with Herculez Gomez.

My opinion, of course.
