Actually, journalists voted overwhelmingly for Sneijder but only had 33% of the vote. It was the players and coaches who plumped for Messi again.

Methinks France Football's Ballon D'Or, est.1956, should never have merged with FIFA's arriviste World Player of the Year award.

World Soccer magazine chose Xavi by contrast.
