Yeah yeah... I'm back. Sound the trumpets already.

I wasn't going to explain my absence since the weekend, but I may as well now. I've been lying low for a few because of an incident with a garbage truck pulling out on wet cobblestone and a kicked up small rock that made a beeline for my eyeball. I never saw it coming, was sitting on my bike looking a bit the other way (which probably helped it not be too bad in the end).

Yes, I had to briefly sport an eye-patch, and yes, in it I looked like a maniac who may hurt someone at any moment - sorta like if Snake Plisskin wore Ajax warm-up sweats and a Blues t-shirt, and mostly slept off the medicine they gave him for two days.

Nevertheless, I have the all-clear now and it's not as if I stopped working completely anyway. People have done far more with far greater woes.

- My Postcard chat with Duisburg GK David Yelldell
- A bit of Eugene/Evgeny Starikov Zenit news
- A quick scan of today's Europa League tilts with Americans*
- The weekly Top 5 Continental Shifts at S365

And I have something special on tap for MLSS, a good chat with an old friend for the Where Are They Now? series.

Oh, and to the reader who emailed to fake berate me for not changing Cut of the Day properly... thanks, you're absolutely right. Your suggestion is today's COTD, even though we've had it there before, because it kicks full ass.

Gooch and Twente already won at Rubin Kazan 2-0. And they didn't freeze. I swear, I saw them moving after.
