Because it's my damn blog, that's why.

I just came across this outstanding video compendium of Dennis Bergkamp's Ajax years. From now on, if someone asks how, when or why I came to be Ajacied in the blood or to rate The Non-Flying Dutchman as my football hero (or even questions how I view the game in general), I can simply share this clip. Enjoy. I sure did back when it all happened.

Side NSC programming note: no On Tap, as usual, for the US v Paraguay match. Busy busy.

Damn, nobody in the game today can volley a shot like that. Not once, let alone 10 times. He plays like Zidane, but at striker.

his first touch is what blows my mind... the ball goes exactly where he's about to strike it.. its like touch and BOOM. goal. amazing.

good vid, though not in chronological order...

what was missing though were his goals through making a "stiftbal". It was definitely his signature kick/shot.

oh and note that half the assists in that vid came from Wim Jonk.

I spoke to a British writer who interviewed him recently, who said it was very difficult, "because I wanted his babies the whole time."!
