Said the Dutch announcer: "A chance? No. A beautiful goal? Yes. Unbelievable!"
In case you're wondering why such a smart-ass title, Altidore has now scored six goals in his last five home games and AZ has outscored opponents 18-0 in their last (now) five games overall. To boot, our dude also bagged three goals in his first 100 Europa League minutes of the campaign.

UPDATE UPDATE: The real time version, with impressed Dutch announcer...
TRANSLATION UPDATE: I've been asked several times overnight what "geweldige" means (a ka the adjective twice used by the Dutch announcer in this clip). It means "massive" or "monstrous" - basically any words that describe excellence as being huge.

And yea, I'm already regretting my stance on Altidore in our last little discussion, Greg.
Good call on him.
Heh. That wasn't aimed at you, man.
Haha, no worries, even if it was. I'm man enough to admit my mistakes (or claim temporary mental illness).
That link above is the .GIF of the goal until you can get a good video.
malmo the team that knocked rangers out of champions league qualification
soccernet has dempsey listed as a defender. No way thats correct, right?
@ joshuaw: No. They always have messed up positions on those.
Did that ball deflect off the defender, or was that all bend? That's a sick, sick shot, either way...
All bend.
And yet Verbeek still looks pissed. He claps, but it's a pissed clap. Like, "Damn, I wish this American would stop scoring goals that force me to play him even though I don't really want to." I know he's intense, but the guy needs to get laid or something.
He's just Gertjan. He's his own dude, doesn't care what anyone thinks... which makes him just like every other oddball Dutch coach.
Of course, everyone is an oddball in their own way. These guys just put it out on display by policy. Some other coaches do it, like Mourinho, but not as many in other countries.
The Dutch just don't give up their individuality to fit into a collective. Quite the opposite, everybody is expected to add themselves to a team project in the best way.
Of course, that doesn't always work for locker room dynamics, but plenty of teams that hated each other off the field smashed it on the field. The Yankees of the 70's immediately spring to mind.
What formation does AZ play and where does Jozy line up?
@ J.D. Springer
???!
@ Sean:
AZ play a 4-3-3 with Jozy as the #9.
