This never gets old. (updated)

Oguchi Onyewu has just powered home his first Sporting CP goal to put the visitors back ahead 3-2 with 15 minutes to play. If it holds up, the Lions will remain perfect in the big guy's starts.

Of course, none of that really matters because he's no good anymore - or so I keep hearing. Ad nauseum.

Here's the goods.

"Oguchi Onyewho?"

Goddamn. Can't they mark a motherfucker over there in Portugal? No one was even looking at him.

Why bother? He's no good anymore.

Wow. Dude was way up there... maybe those knees aren't trash after all.

They did give up 2 goals in both games he started. Trust me he's pure garbage

1 - He's started three games, the third was a clean sheet.

2 - And on how many of those four goals was he to blame?

The attitude toward Gooch back home shocks me. I do not get it at all.

It'd be nice if he got healthy and back on form. The defense hasn't looked the same without him.

Well, the reality is, he's been largely healthy and in club form since January. He did pretty well at Twente and he's done pretty well in his Sporting games. I will also still argue that he was aces in the Argentina friendly, though no one seems to agree with me.

I shouldn't say no one... but no one with a large platform, I mean.

I think people hate on him for his Newcastle days and the fact he washed out at Milan. It's garbage, he DID lose his form, but who doesn't? Poor guy has had it rough since the costa rica game and im so happy he's starting for sporting. Good on him, he's found a good home and I can't wait for him to stare down chicarito

I actually thought Gooch was going to physically eat the ball he went after it so hard. Good to have him back.

@Jay: that's really, really funny.

"Stare down Chicharito"? Bah. That's someone else's bag.

I want to see Gooch EAT Chicharito -- just like in that Goya painting. Head first, and blood everywhere.

Just sayin'.

I believe that would be the first Goya reference on the NSC blog. Way to keep it classy, folks...
