Hmmm - Part Zwei

I find it very odd how Klinsi keeps insisting that his camps allow him to 'explore and evaluate everyone in the national team program' when it's basically always the same guys so far.

We have no Sacha Kljestan (for some wholly bizarre reason) and no Michael Parkhurst and again no natural left back to speak of, but Michael Orozco Fiscal remains. It's also rather curious how Alfredo Morales (who I kinda assumed was off to play for Peru) suddenly gets a call-up with his 51 career Bundesliga minutes and one career 2.Bundesliga start. Heck, he's only played five first team games for Hertha total.

I could go on. Instead, I'll have some food, as it will actually do me good.

G - Bill Hamid (D.C.United), Tim Howard (Everton)

D - Carlos Bocanegra (Rangers), Timmy Chandler (FC Nürnberg), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Clarence Goodson (Brøndby), Alfredo Morales (Hertha Berlin), Michael Orozco Fiscal (San Luis), Oguchi Onyewu (Sporting CP)

M - Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Chievo), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim), Jermaine Jones (Schalke), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim)

A - Jozy Altidore (AZ), DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Edson Buddle (Ingolstadt), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Robbie Rogers (Columbus Crew), Brek Shea (FC Dallas)

Klinsi has stated before that he would not change too much because he's in the process of building...

As long as Orozco does not see the field I will be OK with his selection this time. ROgers is another head scratcher for me as well. Just does not fit into JK's criteria for me.

My guess is that JK wants to wait until January to start the introduction process for the MLS players(Benny, John, Omar,Cameron etc) and I am OK with that.

Apparently, Klejstan is the worst practice player ever if he can't get called up now and remember Larentowiz got subbed instead of him in the Belgium game when we were down. Still would like to see Rolfe and Parkhurst at least make a camp soon. Maybe they will be in the Jan camp as well...

I am actually very pumped to see the top 4 of Jozy, Shea, Clint, donovan. Should be fun to watch.

maybe a better question is whether JK will even be having a January camp. Does anyone know if he will?

One has to wonder, who is Klinsy getting advice from?

Who the hell is helping him pick the roster out of a pool he clearly is not familiar with?

I don't think Klinsy rates MLS. Why the hell Robbie Rogers then? The dude absolutely sucks. Against Belgium he played so far below the international level both technically and positionally(just would not stay wide) that I though he'd never get a NT sniff again.

No Gonzalez is a stunner, along with Klejstan.

He won't give an extremely deserving MLS CB a look, yet seems to bend over backwards for the Germans.

Does Klinsy know the German pool better then the American?

Do Omar and John need to go to a German club to get a look? Will they ever get a look while in MLS?

@Mike,
yes he will.

@jon- good to know. That will keep my friends from going crazy for not calling in JOhn, Cameron and Omar.

Fellas... Gonzalez is a bit busy at the moment.

Greg Seltzer said...

As is Cameron, for that matter.

No Benny, however, is ludicrous.

Look, if Omar Gonzalez is busy right now, does that mean Landon Donovan and Kyle Beckerman aren't? And MLS is taking a two-week break between the conference finals and MLS Cup for just this purpose, as best as I can tell.

Greg Seltzer said...

Touché... come to think of it, I see no reason why Beckerman and Donovan need be called in at this time. I forgot about this break, which I find completely bizarre.

They won't break in April, but they'll put the playoffs on pause? Bizarre.

Orozco? I feel like the guy whose chased a girl for five years, and when I finally get her, she invites her idiot brother along on the honeymoon...

At least now the US has a lot of talent that makes people get upset if they do not get called in. You could make a pretty good team from all the players who have not been called in:

Please note that I did not really think about this to hard, just off the top of my head:

Forwards: Gomez

Mids: Cameron, BennyF, Bedoya, Klejstan, Rolfe,

Def:Convey, John, Omar G, Parkhurst, Ream(just to piss people off), Pearce

GK: Rimando

I didn't put people who can be called into U23 camp(adu, Agudelo etc) and Im sure I missed a bunch of people.

Competition for MF places will be tough when Holden and Torres come back

Don't tell Bobby you think he's a defender...

I'm severely worried about Klinsmann's affinity for Beckerman and Rogers. Neither of those guys should be near a World Cup unless they bought tickets.

If we go to a World Cup with Beckerman playing d-mid, we're toast.

Guzan not yet getting a call in to camp is a travesty. If I were him I would seriously consider telling Klinsmann to go pound sand if/when they ever do decide to call him. Herc Gomez should be in instead of Beasley and Buddle. GMAFB with those two.

Preaching to the choir on Guzan.
