On the eighth day, the goodies still flowed, and they saw it was good.

Let us not forget it's Chanukah, yo. Like any proper showcase, we've saved the juiciest morsel for last. Fair warning, though, it is conditional.

Remember how Teal Bunbury had a Bolton visit at least temporarily nixed because of his Olympic camp call-up? Well, he wasn't the only one in Florida last week with scuttled plans. Philly Union man Freddy Adu was all set to visit La Liga side/longtime admirers Rayo Vallecano.

Our man Freddinho then rescheduled for January, but U.S. Under-23 boss Caleb Porter is now plotting another pow-wow at that time (UPDATE: Got my brain mixed around, perhaps too much stuffing... January camp in Los Angeles, may be a February camp in Europe). In other words, he may have been double-scuttled, not that he'd complain as to why.

Unconnected birdies in and out of Spain told me that this was what they would call an "impresión" in these parts - not overtly a trial, but something where the staff is open to being struck by a crush. You'll notice I did not tag this under transfers.

Will it finally happen? The people around it aren't sure yet, but it's worth pointing out that Freddy always seems to find his way to rather breath-taking cities, be it a visit or something longer. Perhaps now Madrid, Sion, Salt Lake City, Monaco, Thessaloniki, D.C., Rize, Ingolstadt, Lisbon... kid's got travel taste.

Isn't the u-23 camp going to run with the national team camp?

Ah, yes. I got mixed up - the February camp might be in Europe. Thanks for the catch.

Have to say, I'm not sure Nowak is the best coach to end up with. They've never gelled after all these years, what Nowak really wants from him is to be a very tiny cog in his machine, and Freddy will never accept that.

I didn't see this one coming. Crazy stuff.

I'd love to see him get a chance with another team in Europe, mostly because I believe that the Union aren't a good fit.

Let's wait until next season until we judge if he's a bad fit for the Union or not. He showed up just a few months before the end of the season, lacking match fitness (as FM would tell you) and trying to push into a side that wasn't using a role that really fit him. Let's see if Nowak starts next season off with a true attacking mid before we decide he's better somewhere else.

Besides, the last thing Freddy needs is to start lusting after Europe again.

I'd hardly say this constitutes a lust for Europe... who would say no to a free training visit in Madrid?

Apparently, Bolton getting ready for a bid to get Ream (they are losing their centre half Cahill).

likely to happen?

No one, and that's my point. IMHO, he needs to focus on Philly right now. Get in shape, go into preseason with some hunger, claim a starting spot. Working on a maybe-crush with Rayo just seems like a distraction more than anything.
