As everyone races to confirm Barcelona as the best soccer side ever, Diego Maradona has some news for all: they couldn't touch the 1974 Dutch national team.
"I have not often fallen out of my chair, but that happened watching the Dutch team in 1974," Maradona told Sport 360. "They played quite monumentally then. They didn't just beat the opponents, but also humbled them... I was 14 when I saw them play for the first time and it seemed exactly as if they played soccer without touching the grass.... The players seemed to have eyes in the back of their heads... And then Cruijff came out of midfield to enchant the fans with his magical actions."
As for mighty Barcelona, Maradona offered this assessment:
"Perhaps Barcelona seems so great because the level in international football has decreased drastically. A Barça game concludes with them having 80% ball possession, frequently due to the timidity of the opponent."
So, I take it that settles that then. Jawel?
