The Return of Goalzy (updated again)
Well, well, well. Jozy Altidore is back in the AZ line-up and back on the scoresheet, with a nifty spin job putting the home side up 1-0 on form team Heerenveen. The strike was his second in as many games against the Friesians, his eighth in the Eredivisie (one off the team lead) and his 12th across all competitions this term. It's now at halftime with the same score, but Jozy and friends look an awful lot like scoring more.
Clip to come...
UPDATE: And by clip to come, I mean in mere minutes. If he scores again, I'll do my re-post trick so there's a fresh feed alert.
UPDATE UPDATE: Mere seconds after Heerenveen tied the game, Altidore fired his second, patiently picking his spot through a crowd of opponents from 16 meters. So add one to each of those stated totals above and expect a new clip... or new clips, perhaps, the way this is going. Right after the goal, he rolled just wide on a hat trick attempt. UPDATE³: The full Eredivisie show highlight package is now open to those outside the Netherlands.
Greg, with Chandler picking up a knock and probably being unable to play vs. Italy, who the hell are we gonna put at left back? I know you hate the idea, but does Fabian slot in there. Do we force a round peg into a square hole with either Spector or Williams? Maybe calling in Lichaj, Pearce, or Castillo?
Pearce has been terrible both going forward and defending at the national level and castillo was rather poor the last time we saw him. Id rather see lichaj.
also if this is jozy not getting better i shudder to imagine what he would be like if he was.
I do not agree at all on Pearce. Frankly, I'm befuddled whenever someone suggest he has been terrible. Castillo is young and green, it takes time to develop at that level. Lichaj has not played a first team game in eons, so I'd prefer to allow him to continue returning from injury.
Of those already in camp, Parkhurst and Spector are the only ones I'd approve to play left back.
Shutouts 11 Cohen, Maccabi Haifa 4 Steffen, Manchester City 1 Lansing, Aalesund FK 1 Murray, Honka
* = no longer with club

A good way to answer your coach's challenge, Jozy!
How many posts will it take for someone to say Jozy is lazy?
Is that Springsteen's "Born in the USA" after his second goal? Love it!!

If I'm picking, Pearce or Castillo.
I know I'd've call in Pearce to begin with.
2nd clip has been removed. Do you have another?
Well, that stinks.
No, not at the moment, but if worst comes to worst, the official Eredivisie site will release the full highlights tomorrow.

Second video has been taken down. :(
Oy, what a bad night for the AZ keeper. Unlucky not to get the offside call on the 1st and then he botches the next two.
