Your wacky neighborhood UEFA NextGen report

In a strange turn of events, Tottenham have withdrawn from this year's NextGen Series after breaking 'competition regulation'.

Spurs played out a hard-fought victory over Liverpool at White Hart Lane on Wednesday before discovering afterward that they had done so illegally. Shaquile Coulthirst scored the (non-)winner, scrambling home a parried shot from close range.

What exactly the club did wrong is not entirely clear, though there is rampant speculation that it centers around Nabil Bentalib either being too young for the competition or ineligible due to being on trial.

He is 15, but the latter seems the more likely reason. Note that Spurs withdrew, they were not kicked out. NextGen commended Spurs for apparently pointing out the error themselves.

Liverpool will play the winners of the Cruyff Derby, to be played on Wednesday.
