We are on the verge of starting a new World Cup qualifying campaign and 10 years removed from the memorable first match of World Cup 2002. Since it occurred at the end of this famous 90 minutes, it's also been 10 years since I decided to save up for moving to Europe with the goal to work the 2006 edition in Germany. All in all, it was a great middle of the night-to-early morning for me, and surely also one for everyone else out there, as well.
Philly.com's Jonathan Tannenwald unearthed the video, so he gets partial blame for slide-tackling your morning productivity. Enjoy.

Eh, patriotism is more important than work any day, I say.
Yeah, well... soccer patriotism is likely worth more than one, so get ready for the summer of loving bad morning productivity.
Any update on Boyd?
Not yet and I don't know what that means. Could mean negotiations loose ends on a Rapid move or it could mean somebody else made it interesting. I hope to know what's up soon, but that Austrian outlet Sport10 still stands sure that the deal is all but done to Vienna. We'll see.
Wish I would've seen this live... I couldn't imagine what my reaction would have been. Probably worse than the teary-eyed shit show I became when we went up 2-0 on Brazil at the Confed Cup of '09 or the kissing-everyone-in-the-bar monstrosity I was at the end of the Algeria game...
Thank you!
I loved hearing the crowd chanting "OH-VER-RA-TED" after the second goal. Finally: an opportunity for us dumb yanks to be pompous on the world stage.
John O'Brien was such a class player.
"Mine eyes have seen the glory." Oh, Jack Edwards (wherever you are), never change.
