Alright, I hear ya.

I'm not going to spill all with this issue, but find it fair to make clear that a Clint Dempsey move to Liverpool is not imminent. The heat is rising in the small crowd around him, but everybody needs to hit the chill button when UK tabloids breathlessly insist something fantastic is set to go off.

Informed by a couple people that would know, I can tell you that Liverpool is indeed interested in Deuce this summer (unlike last year, when the rags also tried so hard to shove Deuce to Anfield). Of course, I can also tell you they aren't alone.

So, yes, something could end up happening in this situation - such is life. But it won't be tomorrow, no matter how many outlets that spell "defense" weird say so.

I just need a "like" button here. Thanks for the update.

Question:

The new manager is stating that, while funds are low, they have a major signing lined up. Would Clint Dempsey be considered a player worthy of that build up? His output places him in that crowd, but perception is funny that way.

Thanks for being the voice of reason. Apparently if you put the words "Sky Sports reports" in front of any rumor no matter if there is no proof people loose their minds.

Glad to see that I asked Greg before believing anything the rumOUr mail says. Thanks Greg!

Greg - Thanks for setting this straight.

I hope that Dempsey doesn't go to Liverpool. Even with Rodgers in charge, I'm still unsure on what direction that they're going as a club. Would hate to see him leave Fulham for that situation at this point as he doesn't have to make a move this year (unless Fulham forces his hand).

Here's a question. When it is most likely Dempsey's transfer would go through -- in the next 2-3 weeks or at the deadline? Sounds like Fulham might use the money to spend on their targets, so it might happen now.

What happens if no CL team shows any interest? Does Fulham still sell him rather than risk losing him for nothing next year? Or does he just re-sign with Fulham at that point?

He'll tell us what he knows when he's good and ready.

Thanks for the update Greg.
