Mo' UK Rags Lessons

It turns out that Ipswich never made an offer for Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu after all. Great... as if my job wasn't hard enough before selling clubs decided for some reason to start putting out wrong info, which naturally goes airborne in London thanks to the fish-wrappers.

On a strictly unrelated note, I occasionally swear the British tabloids exist solely to test my ability for dodging BS bullets. Missed me again, suckas.

Am I wrong, or is it completely strange that Rangers are the ones leaking these little tidbits (true or not)? I feel like I've never seen that before...well, until Jol started talking about Liverpool, etc. It's been a weird offseason, or maybe it just seems that way because those of us not paid to figure this stuff out are paying more attention this time around.

All the USMNT players need to sort their club situations out so I can get on with my life

It wouldn't be so strange if they'd said something accurate.

@ Mike: It wouldn't be as fun if it easy.

Are you guys confirming the Onyewu interest from Levante, Bordeaux and Lille?

Any truth?

I will if I can, no confirmations yet. If it helps, though, I did hear Bordeaux whispers in the back corridor earlier this week and Levante have shown interest in Gooch before. The best club of them all, Lille, is news to me.

Is there a management change at Sporting or something? Gooch seemed to be doing well and getting good playing time there through last season. Unless they count on making some good denari on him, I can't divine why they'd be shopping him around.

What a weird season already. Some Americans off to some torrid starts and scoring goals by the bucket, while others are trapped in this horrible club-transfer limbo, egged on by some truly crap rumor-milling in the rags and clubs!

I'd like to see some of our guys go to a decent league that takes itself more seriously on these things. Like the J-League, fr'instance.

New manager.

Talksport goes on and on about Clint Dempsey refusing to play without doing any research, making any calls, they just assume it is true. Then bash on him for 15minutes. Meanwhile, if it is any other player they at least bother to find out.

That's infuriating. Greg, have you ever considered writing a piece for MLSS or someplace clearing up issues like this?

I can see the headline: "Jol is full of sh*t."

Thanks for the great work, Greg. I speak for the entire Alliance of American Association Football Transfer Knowledge Seekers in thanking you for your public service.

Yes, the AAAFTKS salute you.

As ranking memeber of the AAAFTKS, I have to disagree, you as president of the Tight-lipped Alliance of American Association Football Transfer Knowledge Knowers, the TLAAFKK are a sworn enemy to the AAAFTKS. I thought we discussed this at the last meeting?

@Bubbles. It wasn't on the minutes. If it ain't on the minutes, it didn't happen.

Jol's left Deuce out of the game day squad vs the red devils: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19359329

I don't see how anyone could have ever put this on Clint. This saga is making me insanely angry at Jol and the fickle, reflexively anti-American English fan in general.

Love today's "big news" on Dempsey: that FFC complained to the league - wait for it - over a month ago. It was such a scandal that the league is "looking into it." Wow, what an update.

Reason for FFC hold up? $$$
Reason for ridiculous FFC public comments? $$$
Reason for FFC complaints? $$$

Clints reason for wanting to leave FFC? Higher caliber football.

I like how the UK press and public support the purity of the game at every turn. Wankers.

News is saying beIN is being picked up by Comcast. No word on whether or not I'll be able to watch it when I get home tonight.

Ugh, putting the accuracy of the reported details of the Dempsey "complaint" aside, the timing of reporting is curious. Can't help but think that it's another effort by FFC to scuttle a transfer. Bastards.

soccertes, excuse me for asking, but how exactly does fulham benefit from scuttling a dempsey deal?

they lose the player next season anyway. so what, they are going to make him angry and outcast him, then what? dempsey does seem to play better though when he has a chip on his shoulder. maybe that is what jol is working towards.
