I love stuff like this so much, we should get a room.

Direct from a press release I received the other day:

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Tuesday, October 16, 2012) – The Rapids will present fans with the “Jerseys off our Backs” at the Saturday, October 27 match against the Houston Dynamo as part of Fan Appreciation Night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. In addition to the lucky fans who win authentic and match-worn jerseys from Rapids players, fans in attendance can receive special discounts, giveaways and prizes throughout the game, and play a role in the 2012 team awards ceremony after the match. For more information, or to purchase tickets, fans can visit www.ColoradoRapids.com or call 303-825-GOAL.

The “Jerseys off our Backs” program will offer fans the chance to receive authentic player jerseys on the field in a special post-game ceremony. All Rapids players on the roster will present the lucky fans with their shirts – with those playing in the match presenting their game-worn jerseys – complete with an autograph. Rapids staff will visit randomly selected seats in the first half to find the participants, so all fans are encouraged to arrive at their seats early in the match if they would like to take part.

In addition to the “Jerseys off our Backs” program, the Rapids will also be presenting fans with giveaways, including a 2012 team poster as they enter the stadium and t-shirts and other items given during the game. Throughout the event, there will be special discounts of up to 70% off select merchandise, including jerseys, hats, plush toys and more, at the Colorado Rapids team store and all of the Altitude Authentics kiosks on the concourse.

After the match, there will be a presentation of the Rapids’ 2012 team awards, which include MVP, Defender of the Year, and Young Player of the Year, decided by a vote of Rapids players and technical staff, the Golden Boot, awarded to the team’s leading scorer, and Humanitarian of the Year, selected by Rapids Community Relations staff and Kroenke Sports Charities. A new honor will be introduced in 2012, called the Fan Favorite Award, which will be decided by a fan vote on www.ColoradoRapids.com, open from Monday to Thursday of next week.

Slick (and sweaty!) low-cost way to bind your fans to you.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have been doing that for years. I think it's a great way to thank the fans.
