Mo talk

I've seen and heard a fair amount of wonder about whether Maurice Edu has been brought on loan to Bursaspor to play in midfield or defense. It's a bit funny for me because, regardless of what stateside fans or pundits may wish to imagine, clubs see the U.S. international as a midfielder. That only stands to reason being that he is naturally and best-utilized as a midfielder, which aside from a few injury cover moments at wingback is where he's played professionally.

As for Bursaspor, they already have skipper Ömer Erdoğan, İbrahim Öztürk and hot Turkey prospect Serdar Aziz in central defense - one of the finest stables in the Turkish League. They did need a defensive midfielder, which is why Edu has arrived.

oh jeez, i guess we us fans stateside just imagined mo edu in central defense last time usa played in the azteca.

i dont know why, but it sort of reminds me of some at. madrid coach saying b. shea has a future, but in the center of defense.

Anyone want to take the light work today?

it should be noted that the two center halfs for bursapor are 35 and 31 respectively. sec. general of the team says he has been tracking mo edu and he sees him as an "indispensable" part of the starting 11.

if you are looking to play center half for your national team, i wonder if it is better to platoon at defensive mid, or right back, in order to keep sharp for the center of the defense?

As I said, they also have a big Turkey international CB prospect, who is 22.

Besides, where on Earth did you imagine that Edu's aim was to play in central defense for the USMNT? And who said he'd platoon at DM for Bursa?

greg, maybe you could do some heavy lifting and find out exactly why stu holden was not in the 18 today. precaution, or regression, or maybe something else?

on the edu subject, i imagine his aim is to get on the field for the us mens team, regardless of the position.

if coach klinsmann see edu as a central defender, then from his perspective, he would be platooning for bursapor, if he is a defensive mid, just like cameron is platooning at rb for stoke.

And how many times has Edu played for the US in midfield as opposed to the amount of times he's played CB?

Also, I see you do not quite grasp the concept of platooning. It has nothing to do with international whatever. Cameron IS starting at right back for Stoke. He's not platooning anything.

Klinsmann sees edu as CB cover what's so hard to see about that

Cover is cover.

Who needs Mo Edu when you have the legend Nigel Reo-Coker?

dean whitehead did play left back for stoke today, so maybe there is some truth to the b shea for lb at stoke. next couple weeks in the transfwe market are going to be pretty exciting.

donovan needs to go to everton pronto. he would be loved, and he could work back into things at his pace. i think moyes would understand the situation, and landon could get what he wants, and maybe us fans will get what we want from him. which is for him to give us his top effort for the next seventeen months. nothing else matters!!!
