The other type of "Jonesing" (updated)

Schalke's Jermaine Jones capped a breakout by firing true to pull the visitors level at Champions League round-of-16 hosts Galatasaray. Besides the important away goal leveler, the midfielder also became the first American to score during the knockouts of this tourney since... Jermaine Jones, nearly five years ago.

CORRECTION UPDATE: I made an oops above, which was kindly pointed out by USMNT press officer Michael Kammerman. My memory did not serve this time; Jones' 2008 strike against Porto was a spot kick after 120 minutes - not a goal. That means DaMarcus Beasley's 2005 tally against Monaco was the last American goal in the Champions League knockouts.

if you guys are jonesing, i got some nice lines here thanks to

europa league winner; chelsea 9/2, inter and the russian dutch team are 10/1, while tottenham are 11/1. the smart money should be on liverpool at 33/1. they are down 2 nil to zenit, but the next game is in the kop. they get by that tricky little fixture and 33/1 is looking pretty nice.

champions league; get on it quick, ac milan is 18/1, this is a current odds, meanwhile barca is 5/1. strange that barca are down two goals, yet they are 5/1, meanwhile, liverpool are down 2 goals, and they are 33/1 something is rotten in denmark. ajax are 20/1.

my boys b dortmond, i got on them at 25/1 back in nov. they are now 7/1. the hedge bet is shakhtar donetsk at 66/1. if karma says anything they will not win, but if it comes down to talent, this team has plenty of it. b munchen are odds on favorites at 3/1.

all of these previous odds are to win the respective euro leagues.

this last bit is the religation battle in the epl. qpr is 1/5 to drop, but with redknapp, they could pull it out. on the other end, newcastle is 11/1 to drop. to me this is good value, as they are only three points above the drop zone, they have a tough game against a ukrainian team tomorrow and without their striker and injuries, like they are americans, and this is ingredients for the championship. the americans at a villa are 10/11 to drop, pretty much fifty fifty.

brasil is 3/1, argentina is 9/2, and usa and russia are both 50/1 to win the world cup in 2014
