As it turns out, Fabian Johnson does not pass fit in time, Jonathan Spector gets injured on the weekend and there's no Michael Parkhurst. Meanwhile, Cpt. 'Los and Gooch have been a-bench-sittin' lately, while Tim Howard remains sidelines. You may all commence advanced fretting... now.
On the other hand, we actually have a couple of proper wingers along this time.

I am strangely okay. Think Cameron will be at right back?
looks like dmb will be the left back. i kind of like it because he can have a chance at redemption after the saprissa affair from four years ago.
i know it might be hard to fathom, but it might be best to play deuce from the bench against costa rica.
Dempsey - Altidore -Gomez
Jones - Corona - Bradley
Beasley - Edu - Gonzo - Cam'ron
With the expectation that Jones and Bradley stay home more than usual and you leave it up to the front four to make things happen offensively with the help of Beasley and Cam'ron doing their thing and Jones and Bradley as outlets to maintain possession.
That backline is a disaster.
i am not against a 3-5-2. it is the american made formation, but it is ironic that dmb last started at left back four years ago against said costa rica, but it was in the saprissa, and denver will be a different beast.
if we are going to go with a center back pairing, it maybe could be one that has lined up before. that means beltran at right back.
Good grief, dude. The 3-5-2 is a variation of the 5-3-2 first used by Argentina.
so what?, that sounds like a nice strong defensive formation, that can offer some offensive bite. and we got about ten center backs on this roster. so thats like three lines worth of.
greg, you are fighting me, and you shouldnt be.
No, yet again, I am making simple corrections of the 'facts as you see them'.
greg, im talking soccer, and you are taking pot shots at me.
whats up with that?
Dude, you are making up "facts" again, which forces me to disseminate the correct info. If you don't want "shots" taken at you, stop strolling in front of the target.
Greg,
Do you see JK "breaking up" his new CB pairing here?
Lots of folks have Cameron moving outside, but if Gonzo-Cameron is it for the foreseeable future, doesn't JK need to stick it out with those two, no matter?
Dikranovic, the roster is short one holding midfielder for a JK attempt at a 3-5-2.
@ dikranovich: And by the way, I did not debate your point that we might be best served using a 3-5-2 right now. You may be right on that for this particular moment.
@ SeaOtter: I don't see why Cameron and Gonzo would be locks for the foreseeable future.
And we have more than enough holding-capable midfielders around. As usual.
"true wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us"
Dude. All I did was factually correct your claim. Don't be sore about me.
no greg, someone was talking greek philosophy the other day and i just wanted to quote one of the greats.
greg, you are way to narcissistic about this stuff.
i think beltran is going to start at right back and dmb is going to have to hold down the left side.
Why does he have to? Cameron played decent left back in the EPL on Saturday.
if we are going to have a center back pairing that has played together before cameron must play center back.
We don't "have to" do that either.
Meanwhile, you want to run out the same things at LB and the central pairing that failed miserably the last time those players were stationed there.
no, my prefered pairing for this group would be edu and cameron.
"True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us."
Pot, meet Kettle.
I would pair Edu and Cameron in central defense flanked by the two inexperienced fullbacks; Beasley and Johnson would be placed on the wings with the idea that they have the speed to help out the fullbacks and support the attack effectively; Jones and Bradley in central midfield; Dempsey withdrawn forward; and Altidore as striker in a 4-4-1-1 formation.
I've never understood the widespread fascination with shoving Edu back into defense - and especially now that he is playing with command in his blatantly true DM position in a league stocked with dangerous #10's.
jamie, reveal yourself please. you are from chi town arent you?
No. I've been to Chicago maybe five or six times in my entire life. What in the world does Chicago have to do with anything?
really i thought you were jamie trecker, but i guess you are not, and then its no fun.
Hamid looked sharper than Rimando last weekend. I didn't get to see Johnson's game.
Johnson had a strong game against SKC on Saturday -- player of the week, actually. It wasn't a good game, per se (27% possession for Chicago, who are looking meeeeek on attack), but he kept the back organized, swept up what he needed to sweep up, and kept the clean sheet against a couple of really good attempts on goal.
I am not Jamie Trecker.
Brad Davis is now in as well
