Jozy Altidore has just scored for the fourth time in as many career games against Heerenveen, and now maybe he can enjoy his first victory over the Frieslanders. The U.S. star put guests AZ up 1-0 near the half hour by acrobatically pulling down a ball on the left side of the area, drawing a save and then putting home the rebound with a dink header.
It was his 22nd Eredivisie goal of the season and 29th overall.
UPDATE: Altidore has buried a picture-perfect free kick on 65 minutes to give AZ a 4-0 lead, and himself 30 goals across all competitions this term.
UPDATE UPDATE: The sound is all messed up, but here's a look at the first, the ninth time this season Altidore has opened a game's scoring. That's 29% of AZ's league matches this year. Hopefully, the final update features full highlights (he also bagged an assist) with proper sound.

That assist to Gudmondson by Jozy was soooooooooooo dirty.
And then he tops with a stunning free kick. MOTM and it isn't even close.

You can't even see the brilliant second. I'll find a better clip.
I can neither deny nor confirm the rumor I'm about to start that Dortmund is trying to sign Jozy.
Does he get his own assist on the first goal?
The free kick - what can I say? I'm one of his biggest supporters and I can't even guess where that came from. Shocking
I didnt even know that free kick was in his repertoire. How lovely...
At what point does the inability to get goals from Jozy on the national team level fall on the coach and his system? OK, the Dutch league plays it a little bit loose, but can we not find a way to properly utilize someone who scores 30 goals in a campaign?
Hey Drew VT6, did you hear the rumor that Dortmund is after Altidore? It hasn't been denied yet! Where there is smoke...
Dude, he was in the groove. Like a dang needle on vinyl.
Was Verbeek in the stands for this one? Is that what I saw at the end of the second clip?
Yeah, he was in the stands. Greg, any word on where Jozy's getting interest from? Germany? Italy?
Brooks, I heard somewhere there's interest from Dortmund... ;)
@ Brooks: Germany? Yes. Italy? Yes. Also think Portugal and Russia. And then don't be surprised when some English/Spanish names pop up sooner or later.
Interesting. What's your personal analysis on where he might head next? Dependent on the teams that come in for him? I know you like to play things close to your vest, but do you have any concrete names? Is Dortmund viable with Lewandowski on his way out?
It's too early to tell what will happen. The names I've put out already with lasting interest of varying degrees are Fiorentina, Sporting CP, Stuttgart and Rubin Kazan. I'll have more names later, though.
Dortmund? It's conceivable, if not necessarily likely.
I'm assuming we won't see a move until late in the summer, what with qualifiers, friendlies, etc. Should be a good story as it unfolds, thanks for the info. Where do you think his best prospects for further development lie within that list?
I would not mind seeing him check out the Bundesliga.
brooks, think about it. if a team is going to spend 15 to 20 million for a player, they will want to bring that player in ASAP. jozy is not going to be some deadline day deal.
It's not about the teams, it's about Jozy. Players who are involved in qualifiers rarely want to get embroiled in the negotiating, signing, press stuff. It's a distraction. I'm sure teams will be beating down his door, but I'd expect him to probably put that off until after the June qualifiers.
its a team with wonderful fans. its a team with a fantastic coach. a pretty rich owner. this is a club that plays in the English premmy. this is a team that jozy has played with in the past.
jozy altidore, you score twenty goals with hull city in the EPL next season and the world is your oyster.
Oi vey...
