Another homecoming possible?

In the short hours since it was made known that Aston Villa opted not to offer Eric Lichaj a contract extension, I've seen and heard a lot of hopeful questioning over whether he could potentially turn up in MLS. In fact, I can report that this option does exist for the defender. Naturally, he also has English parties interested, so it's a wait-and-see situation. Let's say no more for now, but add him to the "welcome home" watch list with Bocanegra, Goodson and Simek...

Lichaj's services would certainly be welcome at DC United although I think we're buried somewhere around 400th on the allocation list...

I predict that Gooch goes to a very impressive team for fair coin and rides the pine all season.

Simek just left a trial with DC without a contract offer. Given the state of our fullbacks, that's not a good sign. It could be that found out that he would cost too much, but I don't think so. Goff's very good about reporting such cases, and Simek came and went very quietly.

I don't think Lichaj should come back. I've seen him play good games in the EPL, his talent level is high enough to play for a good European club, one that will help him reach his potential. MLS hasn't produced a great fullback in a while, and I think it has a lot to do with the style of play and the responsibilities they are given.
