Kyle Beckerman has been added to the US roster for Tuesday's 9 p.m. ET qualifier against Honduras in Salt Lake City.
The Real Salt Lake midfielder's addition makes it a 22-man roster. Jermaine Jones remains in that number.
Geoff Cameron's performance in Seattle should make this news irrelevant. But hey, good for Beckerman.

Does this mean that Cameron is starting, Jones will not dress, and that Beckerman is Cameron's backup?
There's always the chance JK will use Cameron at RB.
There's also a chance this game is in Salt Lake City, home of Kyle Beckerman, and that our roster is currently depleted due to injuries. Don't think this reflects Tuesdays lineup one bit
its a little off topic, but I was playing FIFA13 and I was team USA v England. in honor of the nba finals, we are making it a seven game series.
I want to give stephi boy a good approximation of the USA lineup against panama so he could see what this team is all about. Bradley Evans was not on my roster, so I had to fudge it a little.
whats the point of this you ask? well on fifa in formation section, each formation designates colors to the positions, so yellow is a defender, green is a mid, and blue is an attacker. orange is for the keeper.
so normally, your lineup will look pretty color coordinated with a row of yellow, then a row of green, with a blue or two or maybe three at the top.
and here is the usa lineup with colors all over the board. f. Johnson is listed on fifa as a defender, so when he is left mid/ left wing it is a yellow dot high up the pitch. zusi was my facsimile for evans and zusi is listed on fifa as an attacker. dmb is listed as a mid, but is playing lb. Cameron is a yellow playing in the midfield.
versatility........
oh yeah, and Junior headed home a zusi cross for the winner 1-0, in wembley. zusi was man of the match from his right back spot.
Yeah, I can't imagine this is too terribly earth-shattering. But I'd just be imagining, so don't pay too much attention to that.
@dikranovich I'm glad you beat England. I really am, but what's your point?
actually I won the second game also, on a late Dempsey near post strike. joe hart has been huge, but he cant keep every shot out.
my complaint with fifa is that we have no natural USA stadia to play in. my home game is at union park, but the mountains in the background give away the fact that this is not philly.
Jacob, I think my point is that USA is a diverse team, and versatility is a staple of our program and turning away from this approach, does not seem like the way forward.
Oh dear lord.
Ignoring that...is there really a chance that JK plays Cameron at RB? I read a well known columnist speculating that very move. Given how he (and the front 6) played against Panama, why would he do that?
I'd rather a backline of Parkhurst, Gonzo, Besler, and Castillo with the same front 6 (with Zusi instead of E Johnson)!
Oh, and just to be clear, I think the RB is Evans, but said columnist suggested that Cameron was providing depth at RB. I'd prefer Parkhurst come in for Evans if need be than screw with the offensive formula that has worked.
place your bets!!!! where does Cameron land, in the yellow, or in the green, against honduras? smoke em, if you got em. im going green.
this could be the perfect game to unleash the 3-5-2. wounded opposition. top of the table, and a home crowd that will be looking to top the Seattle crowd.
I just now realize if we go 3-5-2, it means Cameron is right center back with gonzo in the middle and besler on the left. so maybe Beckerman does get the start on his home field afterall to get this thing totally on topic.
I'm not sure what you're talking about. I think that you'll see this lineup:
Howard
Evans Gonzo Besler Castillo
Cameron Bradley
Zusi Deuce F Johnson
Jozy.
There's a chance that F Johnson slides to left back and E Johnson plays on the left wing, but I'm betting on the lineup above.
"There's a chance that F Johnson slides to left back and E Johnson plays on the left wing, but I'm betting on the lineup above."
I'm betting on this.
don't you guys think its the wrong message to send to a player who scores the game clinching goal against panama, that he is now on the bench?
coach klinsmann might just rate ejs offensive ability over fjs.
the thing we know for almost certain is that zusi is going to slot back into one of the wing positions.
In this case, I would move F. Johnson back to left back. I'm a big fan of the dynamic he brings to the attack (he can play on the wing, but also assist Dempsey in the movement and class department) but this is Honduras. We need to be as secure back there, and as comfortable with each other as possible. I don't think Castillo has the defensive chops, or the calming influence that Johnson can bring to that role. I'm addicted to Beasley and Besler's chemistry, but this is the smart move.
Eddie and Zusi on the wings will probably happen, and I can't say I see a better option without Donovan or an in form Bedoya in the picture. So hopefully we pull out the win, and reset with whoever impresses in the Gold Cup.
Also, this game will be much harder for Jozy.
Why will it be much harder for Jozy? Bernardez and Figueroa are out. No reason for JK to be cautious, being Cadtillo in at LB. unleash the horses
I assume UnitedDemon predicts it will be harder for Jozy without Fabian pushed so high up the field?
one of the things that im really liking about this USA team is that even some missed passes are finding another American player. and I think this is a sign of good positioning and just better all around team work.
we should be playing in confederations cup over mexico, and we just have to really put more stock into the qualifying event.
I know, right? What was Bob Bradley thinking when he didn't try and win the 2011 Gold Cup...
I didn't know those two were out- then Jozy should absolutely have a good chance.
If Johnson starts at left back, the offense won't be quite as fluid- we'll see Johnson use his speed and Zusi muscle into space, but it will be easier for the defense to bunker with the reduced width.
If Castillo is in, our offense should be moving, but I'm worried about his ability to deal with Garcia. I'm just not sure about him against one of the best creative wingers in CONCACAF. I'd love to see the latter work, though- it would mean F. Johnson can take up permanent residence on that wing.
I've hardly ever found Castillo to add more in attack than he takes away in defense. So if he's on the field, as far away from the US goal as possible, please.
Boniek Garcia is likely out for the game, too, so that's one less concern for Castillo.
