Let's play this game again.

A few explanations:

1 - Tourney's starting, keep the same defense.
2 - Get Rimando right back in after a shaky outing.
3 - Some time after Donovan scores to break the all-time Gold Cup record, give him an early night.
4 - Not every position is filled by my top choice. It's Belize, let's save some gas.
5 - It could've been Mix or Donovan in the hole, but it's time to give Bedoya a shot in his hit zone.
6 - A 4-4-2 after the friendly success? No. We need to be able to become successful with an aggressive style against mites if we want to hang when it comes time to tackle the big boys next summer.

you kids are going to love this lineup.

phurst and dmb on the flank with Azteca fiscal and goodson. looks like Beckerman and torres in the d mids, with corona and Donovan wide. mix in the middle, with wondo up top.

great lineup, holden cant start, or maybe should not even be playing on this turf field. certainly not against the likes of belize.

I imagine Holden's omission is a combo of bringing him along slowly (even if he only played 45 min 4 days ago) and not needing him against Belize. I certainly hope Klinsi isn't basing lineup decisions on the misguided assumption that Jeld-Wen's turf is dangerous...it's certainly better than that garbage make-shift surface the US played on in Seattle a few weeks back.

for the butt sniffers keeping track at home, that was a mex league cross, to a tijujana taxi drivers head, onto the boots of the san jose hitman.

alright, parkhurst misses his mark on the belize goal, but then dishes for the hat trick hero. my gosh, how many goals is jack mac going to bag in the second half, I wonder

Classiest player in the first half, 1999 u17 teammate of Landon Donovan, Kyle beckerman . Beckerman really controlled this first half on both sides of the ball. His high pressure was well timed and his distribution was close to flawless. Very intelligent player and it hurts that many fans don't grasp this.

Donovan was very classy in the first half as well. Unfortunately USA gets to make only three subs, so some young hungry player is going to have to sit this one out.

for all us idiots that don't have a dvr, or just want to make sure we saw what we really saw last night, fox is replaying the game at 4pm EST.

I hate to look past cuba, but man, costa rica in game three of the group stages, is set to be a primer for a game sometime later, hopefully, again in this gold cup and then in the fall, when USA march into san juan, or san jose, or whatever, and put the ticos in their place, in their own home.

at this point, all focus should be on running the table, right through the gold cup and qualifying and on into brasil.
