There is a story on MLS today titled "How the US stopped worrying and learned to love the short corner". I am guessing you did not write it, Greg.
Absolutely not. And I will go ya two better. Not only will these not work so well outside CONCACAF, but I think the Nats scored from corners at a much greater frequency before they started using shorties. One night against one of the smallest teams in the world does not convince.
The video actually focuses more on MLS and the increased use of short corners -- not because they result in more goals (they don't), but as a way to hedge against great counterattacking teams. The US angle is just the bait to get you to watch the video...though Doyle does suggest teams playing against the USMNT might want to try short corners as the counterattack is often our best weapon.
Obviously a counterpoint to all this is that teams could still do traditional corners and just leave more guys back on D.
Attacking lineup. Ej up top. Scary. Bedoya, ld, Torres , just behind, with Holden and bk burger crushing it.
Goodson, saving mofo for Mexico .
oMG. EJ. Wow!!!
Rimando goal kick. Ej header, bedoya touch. Ld poke. 2 nil. I love the goal kick counter
Workman like effort in the first half from USA. Very pleasing to watch. Early goal in the second should seal this deal.
When we say an early goal, we don't mean for Honduras. Oops. Ok, that's better 3-1 Donovan. Bedoya on the wing. Lets just say its not a bad thing.
Was it a master stroke to get that red card in the closing minutes? Guess we will find out Sunday. Sounds like it might be tab Ramos coaching In the finals. Wow. Or maybe Eric wynalda.
How could that possibly be a master stroke? This is what I mean by working backwards from the conclusion you want.
Scratch that last one, it looks like coach klinsmann was dismissed, not shown a red, which mean the CONCACAF justice committee has the final say on his fate. Lets put it this way. If it is panama, coach could have to serve a suspension, but no way if it is el tri.
Greg, if you can't see it, you just have to try harder. This team and this whole operation is not about any one player, or any one coach. It's about something bigger. This much should really be clear to every person involved with US soccer.
Lol Dik, you are out of your mind on this one.
dikranovich, you need to find a girl, mate.
Talking to yourself on a blogpost isn't a sign of a happy, healthy life.
Jedi mind tricks are sometimes like higher dimensions, whereby you don't see it ever, but still might feel its force. Nothing wrong with tab Ramos manning the ship for a game. Don't be mistaken. USA want this gold cup badly.
The ground work is being laid for tomorrow and beyond.
Right, so, 15 comments and a contiguous block are from our favorite dik. Ignored and what's left? Oh, yes, we were discussing short corners.
Me, I'm all for them. Sorry, Greg.
Also, Tab Ramos isn't a full national team assistant.
Then again, I should probably also point out that Star Wars was a fictional movie franchise.
