(truck-in-reverse beeping sound)

Sorry, to leave you hanging a bit earlier, but things are busy in the NSC Batcave and I haven't even eaten after hip hop class. I'm back to spill more.

  • So I told you who is out and was never in for Jozy Altidore. Now, let's get to who really is. His agent has confirmed that of two EPL clubs interested, one of them has moved into deep talks. I can tell you that Sunderland is one of the two - but have not determined if they are the one ahead in the race.

Of those I previously outed as suitors, Lazio remain in and Schalke have dropped out. There is another Serie A club in the scene (and I think I know which one), plus perhaps a couple from the Bundesliga (but they are quickly getting priced out, it seems). Meanwhile, of the four teams that had offers rejected by Altidore, I can confirm Dinamo Kyiv was one. Zenit St. Petersburg showed interest, but it was never serious.
  • Don't feel too bad that Twente aren't actually chasing Alejandro Bedoya - he's got two other Eredivisie clubs ringing up. At this point, it would be fair to say that Heerenveen stand slightly closer to the prize than F-Word. They have competition from France and Germany, though, but no standing offers from anywhere yet.

Bedoya did recently reject an offer to join Randers FC, while it also appears one of the two Champions League entrants showed some interest at one recent point.

I keep hoping for Lazio so we can have Jozy and Bradley on opposite sides of the derby.

I think Newcastle makes the most sense as the 2nd EPL club. They need a striker and had interest in Bony. Everton seems likely too. IIRC, Roberto Martinez wanted him at Wigan when he went to Hull.

I wish the 2nd Serie A team was Roma, but with the way their fans treated Balo last year, can't see it.

I love the Eredivisie for Bedoya (and any other American attacker).

I'll be honest: I have no idea who the second EPL team is. Those two are on my short list of likely places.

It's not Roma.

H'veen and (as much as I loathe to say it) F-Word would both be great playing fits for him. But let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet, no one anywhere is getting close.

Could Fiorentina be the 2nd Serie A team?

They are pretty stacked at striker but Rossi hinted that it would be nice to play with Jozy again.

Perhaps Napoli (reach) or even Udinese, since DiNatale is a million years old.

Greg Seltzer said...

Possibly, because they have been interested before. But I think it's another team.

It is not Napoli.

Go ahead and break my heart :-(.... fulham's not in the running, are they? I already know the answer just want you to break it to me. I can take it. What french teams are on bedoya's trail?

Greg Seltzer said...

Fulham, still no.

French teams, I don't know. He's had some admirers there in the past.

Lazio must really be jonesing for some respectability.

Deep talks eh? So would you say an Altidore transfer this summer is likely?

Inter Milan for Jozy?

I can't wait to see where he goes.

Thanks for the update.

So Graeme Bailey said on Sirius that he would likely back up Fletcher. Craziness.

Fiorentina signing Mario Gomez makes it even less likely that they'll be sniffing on Jozy.
