Brooks Brothers-In-Arms

It may go unnoticed by many, but a pretty important USMNT-related roster release occurred on the other side of the globe today. Hertha Berlin center back John Anthony Brooks, who was called up by Jurgen Klinsmann for the Bosnia friendly next week, has apparently turned down a chance to play for the Under-21 Mannschaft. Ya see, ze Germans had to name their squad at Thursday's deadline and Brooks is nowhere to be seen.

Go ahead... get up and do your dance. The boss/professors/fellow lunch consumers can just deal with it.

Seems like a big win, but I will hold my breath until he is cap tied. I see Shawn Parker on that list though, and Green with the Ger U-19's. Any hope for them in red white and blue?

This brooks fellow sounds like another cant handle her chandler. I hope he is not afraid to fly also.

Yep, Dikran, turning down the German U21s to (presumably) accept a call from the USMNT definitely has me thinking this guy isn't serious...
Can you at least wait until he turns down a call-up before you start sticking words together into nonsensical sentences?

Oh, dikranovich, why must you always relentlessly be you? I've now decided that you are actually performance art. Next time you say something this silly, I'm just going put down my coffee and cigarette holder to snap my fingers.

@ Zach: Green may be a tug-of-war. Parker, I think, is all about Germany (for now, at least).

I'm pretty sure I referred to him once as the Andy Kaufman of No Short COrners. If I didn't, I know I've thought it....

Hey just keep him out of those Central American qualifiers and I think we will be alright. Jab is a little close to job for my liking anyway, and he ain't taking beslers spot anyway. We could put brooks at left fullback and Cameron at right and have the tallest back line in the history of football. That's gonna be some team photo.

My wife said honey, I wanna go on vacation, I wanna go some place I've never been before. I said, try the kitchen!!!

Quoting Henny Youngman...I'm guessing from his bit in Goodfellas...

Can't wait to hear that UniMas announcers call say his full name...it will be just like "Joe Benny Corona".

BTW, Shawn Parker can play soccer as well as founding Napster and Facebook? That guy is more talented than Wayne Brady.

This isn't getting near the play it should. Brooks could potentially be our starting CB for the next THREE World Cups.

Outside of LB, this is our weakest position. This would be huge.

Additionally, he chose the US OVER GERMANY.

John said...

@dikranovich You're an idiot. He could take any of our CB's job as he will be the only natural CB playing in a top 3 league. Brooks is a Beast!

dikranovich said...

upper case john, im sorry, but he has yet to even play in the bundas league and you want to anoint him as a lock. somebody could have said four or five years ago that zak Whitbread is our best natural center back because he is the only one playing in the premiere league, and champions league.

I don't know, it sounds like a reach. chandler has not done much yet for the USA, but USA will go on and thrive, with, or with out him, and I think the same goes for brooks.

John said...

@dikranovich How can you compare Zach to Brooks? Whitbread is injury prone and can't stay healthy for longer than a month. Also I didn't say Brooks was a lock but if he stays a starter and does well he definitely will be in Brazil with the USA, that is if he stays with us and doesn't go the U21 Germany team which he rejected them a few days ago.

And John Anthony Brooks *jabs* one in! Move over Jozy! (That's how this works, right??)
