According to Bild (take cautiously), Bayern Munich II wing sensation Julian Green has accepted a USMNT call-up for the upcoming November friendlies. The Tampa-born teenager has appeared in youth internationals for both of his countries, most recently with the Germany Under-19's - but has yet to be cap-tied. The article asserts Klinsi has "stolen" the hot prospect, but doesn't actually report this will be his final choice.
Thanks for the heads-up I'll try to get to the bottom of this tomorrow. Of course, it's the busy day before the senior team plays its Bundesliga game, so we'll see. And in case you're still trying to figure out who the fuss is all about, here's some of his preseason exploits from the summer...

It'd be nice to see a highlight video of the kid doing actual winger things, rather than scoring goals and not giving a shit.
That said, I'm all for stealing another player away from the Germans. If he shows for a US friendly, that puts us in the driver's seat: bring it, son.
@Jay: Not giving a shit? Most players in Germany don't really celebrate in pre-season, period. It's very much about "put your head down and work." It's all about being humble.
He played as a left winger when he was with Bayern's first team in pre-season, but he has been playing as a false 9 for Bayern's reserve team (13 goals in 14 games). Also it's not really stealing away from the Germans since he was born in the U.S just like the IceMan haha!
Julian's dad confirmed on Twitter that his son did get called up by Klinsmann for the friendlies against Scotland and Austria next month. If it's all true I wonder if he's going to file a one time switch or if he's just going to train with the team.

john, I think that is the point, if he is playing in the friendlies, it means he filed the switch, and that means he would be tied to the USA.
it sounds like he might just come in and train and not actually play in the friendlies and still leave his options open.
but then again, with his dad as his "agent" he might already be committed
@Dikranovich: We still don't know if he's just going to train with the team, or if he's going to file a one time switch soon since he got provisionally cap tied a few weeks ago in a U19 Euro qualifier with Germany.
Just training. Full report coming at MLSS shortly, with comments from Klinsi.
Yeah, not giving a shit. He's putting the ball in the goal and walking away like a homeless person just asked him for money. I want to see this kid dribble and cross, not score easy goals.
Jay: Do you have a problem with that? Like I said before you just don't celebrate when scoring in pre-season, it just makes you look bad. Also 15 goals in 14 games for an 18 year old speaks for itself.
How is it not clear to you that I have a problem with it? You're 18 years old, you get called up to the first team for preseason and you throw down a fuck-ton of goals. You're telling me you're not going to celebrate a single one? Bullshit. Kid's walking around like it's old hat. Care a little bit.
And, again, significant point here, let's see some highlights of him doing things that wingers actually do, please. Dribble a guy to get that step ahead and put that pass in across the face of goal. Play the one-two on the wing. Put a cross onto someone's head. When he just shows up in the box like that to score a goal, it doesn't tell me that he's an amazing player -- it tells me the defense isn't showing up.
@Jay: It looks like "Ignorant Yank" is the right nickname for you. I don't know if you know much about football in Germany or in general, but like I already said a bunch of times most players in Germany don't celebrate when they score in pre-season, period. It's all about working hard and being humble.
Unfortunately they aren't many highlights of Julian Green except the one Greg posted above, you will have to wait until Pep Guardiola gives him PT for the first team. It will be really hard for him to break into the first team since it's stacked with world class players, but luckily Pep Guardiola rates the kid so maybe he will give him a chance in the DFB-Pokal (German Cup).
People had the chance to watch a bit of Green on TV back in the summer when he got PT in pre-season tournaments against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Telekom Cup(beIN Sport) and Sao Paulo in the Audi Cup (ESPN).
Bayern's next DFB Pokal match is Dec. 4 away to relegation battlers Augsburg in the Round of 16.
I wondered when the name-calling would start, so thanks for that. So glad you could dig me up. Hope you could read the whole thing.
I don't read blogs from people who are ignorant.
Let's keep this going. Tell me again: how ignorant am I?
